    GOAL - Dominic Calvert-Lewinpublished at 34 mins

And England lead in South Korea.

A ball is played to the left corner of the penalty area and Dominic Calvert-Lewin challenges Nahuel Ferraresi.

Calvert-Lewin reacts quickest to have a shot at goal, which Wuiiker Farinez can only parry before the Everton man sticks in the rebound.

    Great scenes.

No matter the age, a long hoof forward is not too pretty to watch, but can be effective.

England centre-half Fikayo Tomori, under pressure, launches one forward and Dominic Solanke is chasing after it.

However, Venezuela goalkeeper Wuiiker Farinez, who scored a penalty in a 7-0 win against Vanuatu, rushes out of his penalty area to head clear. The sort of sweeper-goalkeeping Pep Guardiola would like, maybe.

Who have you seen play before they were famous?

Matt Wright: Saw a 16-year-old Dele Alli make his debut for MK Dons in an FA Cup 1st round tie at Cambridge City. Looked lively.

Bob Free: Watched Cambs u14 v Essex u14 many years ago and the Essex team had a certain D.Beckham playing in midfield .

Gareth Crewe: Enjoyed watching Szczesny pull off ridiculous saves in League One for Brentford. He played in the CL just months later.

At first glance I thought Freddie Woodman might have just got fingertips to that - but he didn't, he was beaten. It caught everybody by surprise, a brilliant strike, bending both ways.

England are so lucky to get away with that. They're now looking a little bit panicky.

  5. HITS THE WOODWORK - Venezuelapublished at 25 mins

England were caught out by two Leigh Griffiths free-kicks as the senior side drew 2-2 against Scotland yesterday, and the Under-20s so nearly fall behind to a free-kick in South Korea.

It is an incredible free-kick, at least 40 yards out from Ronaldo Lucena. Just like a certain other Ronaldo, the free-kick is powerfully struck, with the ball swerving all other the place. It beats a diving Freddie Woodman, but luckily for England the ball bounces off the left upright.

There may be some scouts getting in touch with the greatly-named Zamora FC in Venezuela, Lucena's home club, after that one.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 22 mins

    Venezuela U20 0-0 England U20

England are turning the screw here. Yet again Dominic Solanke is involved as he runs at the Venezuela defence, before offloading to Ademola Lookman.

It is a sweet strike from the Everton man from the edge of the penalty area, but it remains goalless because of an acrobatic diving save from Wuiiker Farinez.

From the resulting corner, it falls to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but his radar is a bit off with his effort going wide.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, one of four Everton players in the starting line-up, gets free down the left wing, but there is no-one alert in the box and Calvert-Lewin's cross is easy pickings for goalkeeper Wuiiker Farinez.

England haven't really tested the keeper yet and that's two sliced chances now from Dominic Solanke.

But it's a positive start. They're not showing any nerves.

England boss Paul Simpson will be happy with the performance of the Young Lions so far.

Venezuela have scored 14 goals in this tournament, and beaten Germany, Vanuatu, Mexico, Japan, USA and edged past Uruguay on penalties in this competition, but have not troubled Freddie Woodman in the England goal yet.

For the second time, Dominic Solanke has a chance, but shoots harmlessly off target.

  10. GOOD SAVE!published at 11 mins

    Venezuela U20 0-0 England U20

A good chance for England as Dominic Solanke finds himself free in the penalty area, but he slightly scuffs his shot and Venezuela goalkeeper Wuilker Farinez parries the effort, before team-mate Williams Velasquez hacks it behind for a corner.

The set piece is aimed towards Kieran Dowell at the back post but he can't make good contact on a header and it goes well wide.

A bright start from England and the ball is quickly fed from left to right with Lewis Cook sending it to Jonjoe Kenny, but the Everton man, who has not missed a minute of action in the competition, gets too much juice on the cross, with it going harmlessly out of play.

Because of their age, they will make mistakes. But you want to see progression, the players trying to do the right things and playing positive football. Always look forward.

For the Venezuelans, this match really is vitally important. This is how they get a move to a big club, by putting in a big performance on the international stage.

Liverpool fans will be watching out for Dominic Solanke, who will be joining them from Chelsea next month.

He has a chance to become the tournament's top goalscorer and looks lively from the off. He gets free down the left wing and looks to take on the right-back.

It looks like a potential foul, but the official is not having any of it.

It's really important players of this age get experience of international tournaments. It's so valuable.

A lot of them aren't getting too much club football so it's even more vital. They've played well, looked solid and deserve to be where they are.
