Redknapp reacts to Birmingham's loss at Burton

    Harry RedknappImage source, PA

After last night's 2-1 loss to Burton, Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp was angry at his side's second-half display.

Redknapp - who steered the Blues away from relegation last term after a torrid run under former boss Gianfranco Zola - told BBC WM:

"Four or five of them disappeared in the second half. We didn't win any battles. It's not good enough.

"You don't win two out of 25 games and then - with virtually the same team - no one is going to walk in and say: 'OK lads, sprinkle stardust on you, forget that you ruined Zola last year, this year we're going to be different'.

"What I need is to change a lot of them, because they're not good enough for Birmingham City.

"It's no good these players here, when they don't get picked in the future, coming to me crying. They've had their chances."

Nottingham Forest v Middlesbrough (15:00 BST)

What sort of reception will Britt Assombalonga get on his return to the City Ground?

The £15m man was a regular goalscorer and popular figure during his time at Nottingham Forest. He also scored twice as they stayed up on the final day of last season. Will that guarantee a warm reception or is he yesterday's man?

Assombalonga was off the mark for his new side in midweek, scoring in the 2-0 victory over Burton as Boro moved above Forest into fourth in the table.

Both teams have had a more than decent start, playing three and winning two. Forest were also very unlucky losers against Barnsley on Tuesday but the signs are encouraging for manager Mark Warburton, He is not finished in the transfer market but says he won't upset the balance in the squad.

"We will not break the harmony and the unity in the dressing room for the sake of one player," Warburton toldBBC Radio Nottingham.

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Barnsley

So, after a feisty end to the first half, it's the Blades who go in ahead.

Both are a man down after that ugly confrontation between Leon Clarke and Angus MacDonald.

Looking at the incident more closely, I don't think referee Tim Robinson was left with much choice but to send the pair off.

It seemed Leon Clarke grabbed Angus MacDonald by the throat, and the Barnsley captain reacted by moving his head towards the striker.

It didn't appear to make contact, but there was intent. It's 10 a side for the rest of this match.

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Barnsley

    Wow, what's happened here?

Barnsley skipper Angus MacDonald and Sheffield United striker Leon Clarke are both shown straight red cards for an off the ball incident.

As soon as I find out what actually happened there I'll let you know, but there appeared to be some sort of confrontation.

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Barnsley

Barnsley are pushing for an equaliser in the final five minutes of the first half, but they're lacking a bit of quality in the final third.

The visitors win a free kick in a good position to pump into the box, but George Moncur's delivery is cleared.

Three minutes to go until the break at Bramall Lane.

Ryan Hedges bursts through the Blades' defence and squares it to Tom Bradshaw but the Wales striker can't control it properly and balloons his effort over.

Aston Villa v Norwich (15:00 BST)

At this very, very early stage of the season, it is in fact winless Aston Villa who are bottom of the pile.

But Steve Bruce's side could calm any fears of another disappointing start to a season with a win at home to Norwich today.

Yet the Canaries won't be pushovers either, looking for a first away win under new boss Daniel Farke.

    RECAP: Friday's Championship action

    Lloyd DyerImage source, Rex Features

One set of players who will have enjoyed a rare bit of added on time in slumber club this morning will be those from Burton.

Nigel Clough's side deserve it. Friday night's 2-1 win over Birmingham was mightily impressive.

Having lost all three Championship matches so far, the Brewers trailed 1-0 at the break but ended up worthy winners.

Here's the report, courtesy of Brendon Mitchell.

We'll hear the thoughts of disappointed Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp a little later.

Meanwhile Billy Sharp has the first shot of the match, but the Blades striker is denied by Adam Davies between the sticks.
