I am very concerned for Swansea. I felt they needed to strengthen and have brought in Tammy Abraham but he is not proven in the Premier League. They have lost Sigurdsson and he was their main goal-getter and provider. Paul Clement has got a job ahead in spending that money.

But coverage will now start several rounds earlier, when the extra preliminary stage gets under way this weekend.

United go to the other end and almost score themselves, but Romelu Lukaku's snapshot from the edge of the box flashes just wide of Lukasz Fabianski's goal.

    Swansea 0-0 Man Utd

Oh my, nearly an opener for Swansea.

The home side break clear down the left and Jordan Ayew finds acres of space, as Eric Bailly's clearance ricochets off him.

Ayew makes his way into the box and his outside-of-the-boot cross comes off the top of the crossbar.

David de Gea, trying to intercept, was in no man's land.

    Swansea 0-0 Man Utd

It is a decent start by Swansea, who are looking comfortable in possession against a Manchester United dress in red shirts, black shorts and black socks.

The midfield battle could prove to be the difference today, as United's Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic link up for the first time.

I think Lukaku will score a bag full this season, close to 30 goals. He suits Man United down to a tee. The massive plus is they have brought Matic. He has taken the burden away from Pogba.

    Guy Mowbray
    Match of the Day commentator

"They ended last season well and have only been beaten once at home since January, but on the evidence of these teams' opening games it is hard to make any sort of case for Swansea here.

"With Gylfi Sigurdsson gone and Fernando Llorente still injured, the Swans have lost their main goal creator and scorer - and if that meant few chances at Southampton, it ought to signify precious little chance of beating United.

"Jose Mourinho's side were superb last Sunday, with some of their football against West Ham a clear demonstration of the confidence he repeatedly emphasised post-match.

"He looks to have got his mojo back. It's a 'second season', external thing."

All the chat is about how good Manchester United were in their first game and how many they will put past Swansea.

I'm tipping home front man Tammy Abraham to give Phil Jones the run around this lunchtime though.

The players are out onto the pitch at the Liberty, welcomed by a boisterous crowd.

Swansea v Man Utd (12:30 BST)

    Dafydd Pritchard

For the second successive summer, Swansea have seen one of their most important players move to Everton.

Midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson completed his £45m transfer on Wednesday, following in the footsteps of centre-back and former Swans captain Ashley Williams in 2016.

The Welsh club failed to properly replace the Wales skipper, whose absence contributed to a torrid season which almost ended in relegation.

Sigurdsson’s departure at least comes with a far bigger fee and, if they are to avoid repeating the mistakes of last season, Swansea will need to spend that money wisely and swiftly.

In response to Matt (11:35), I don't think everyone is saying that Matic is the complete midfielder, only that he might just be the player to complete the United midfield. There's a difference.
