Reading between the lines, it seems Jonny Evans may have played his last game for West Brom.

"We don't need or want to sell him, said Baggies boss Tony Pulis on Friday, reacting to news that Manchester City had a £18m bid for the 29-year-old turned down earlier this week.

    Strong start. but what's this?

"It would be crazy to say West Brom won't sell if a huge amount of money is put in front of you," he added.

"We don't want to stop him from doing something he wants to do. We don't want to have a player that stays at the football club and is disappointed."

    I make that, "your's for £25m."

    "Please stay, please."

Liverpool are damaging themselves by refusing to let midfielder Philippe Coutinho leave for Barcelona, says ex-England international Jermaine Jenas.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live's Friday Football Social, Jenas said Liverpool's stance was like "cutting off your nose to spite your own face".

He added: "Coutinho has done brilliantly for Liverpool. Yes, they have helped develop him, but the fact is that now the deal of a lifetime has presented itself - not just for him but for the club.

"Once the owners started to get involved, though, it became about power. It's one thing it coming from the manger's mouth - there being a feeling that he shouldn't be sold - but now they are in a situation that sets a precedent for future deals."

Stay or go? Stick or twist? Sell or say 'ho, no Ernesto'?

Plenty of unanswered questions about the future of want-away Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool batted away a third bid - this time worth £114m - from Barcelona for the 25-year-old on Friday.

One thing is for sure. He won't have to face his Anfield public today against Crystal Palace as he recovers from a conveniently-timed bad back.

Manager Jurgen Klopp says, publicly at least, that he has no complaints about the Brazilian's attitude.

Let's see how this one develops.

Well, at least he should be fresh for the World Cup.

Diego Costa - the on-strike off-clock Chelsea striker - is still back home in Brazil after being sent a text in June by boss Antonio Conte telling him he would not be part of the squad this year.

According to the 28-year-old, the Blues have told him to get swap Copacabana for Cobham and start training with the reserves.

"I would like to choose my destination," he told ESPN Brasil. "I'm not going to let them decide just to get more money."

Conte reaction to Costa is hilarious...
