Liverpool do have a very good record at home on the opening fixture of a Premier League campaign. They've won their opening match in the last four seasons - although Crystal Palace have surprisingly have won on their past three visits to Anfield.

Liverpool with their pace and power will be very much looking forward to this and very much looking to get three points on the board.

Crystal Palace have to take a couple of steps backwards to go back to how they played last season.

If De Boer wants to stick with his system he may have to suffer a few bad results. Sometimes managers change things too quickly and that might be happening at Crystal Palace.

They haven't brought in a lot of players and you have got to have the players to play the system. If he hasn't got ball-playing players you can't enforce it on them.

Writing in today's programme, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp notes: "Today is our one and only priority. It is where our attention is - 100%.

"The attitude of our players has been outstanding. We have faced challenges during pre-season and at the beginning of the season already. I love that in our squad we have players of different personalities but at their core they all care passionately about what they do, about this club and about each other.

"To achieve something special we all need to put what we can to achieve together ahead of what we might want for ourselves as individuals."

I wonder what he means by that?

Liverpool are determined to keep him and are in the driving seat. You just don't know.

Well, after ploughing through a major traffic jam to get here, I’ve just had a look at today’s programme.

The man on the cover is James Ward-Prowse. A rather cruel reminder to Saints fans that he was the last Southampton player to score here – way back on 5 April.

I’ll be providing updates from the match this afternoon on 5 live.

West Brom are interested in Liverpool's £30m-rated defender Mamadou Sakho.

France centre-back Sakho, 27, is out of favour at Anfield after falling out with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp on the 2016 pre-season tour of the USA.

He was sent on loan to Crystal Palace last season, where he made eight appearances, and was nominated for their player of the year award.

The news comes after the Baggies rejected an £18m bid from Manchester City for centre-back Jonny Evans.

Manager Tony Pulis said on Friday it would be "crazy" to say they would turn down a bigger offer for the Northern Ireland defender, but added: "We're not desperate for money."
