Liverpool v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

Liverpool are damaging themselves by refusing to let midfielder Philippe Coutinho leave for Barcelona, says ex-England international Jermaine Jenas.

The Reds have rejected three bids - the latest worth about £114m - from the Spanish giants for Coutinho, who last week submitted a transfer request after the club's owners released a statement insisting he would not be sold.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live's Friday Football Social, Jenas said Liverpool's stance was like "cutting off your nose to spite your own face".

He added: "Coutinho has done brilliantly for Liverpool. Yes, they have helped develop him, but the fact is that now the deal of a lifetime has presented itself - not just for him but for the club.

"Once the owners started to get involved, though, it became about power. It's one thing it coming from the manger's mouth - there being a feeling that he shouldn't be sold - but now they are in a situation that sets a precedent for future deals."

Andy Robertson is one of five changes for Liverpool. The 23-year-old comes in for Alberto Moreno.

A quick flick through the match day programme and Robertson says "When you sign for Liverpool you can't wait to play at Anfield. I think even for the players that have been here a long time the first game of a new season back at Anfield will always be a special one.

"These are exciting times for the club. There's a lot of competition for places and you know that you need to try and be at it in training and then do it on games when you get your chance."

    Leicester v Brighton (15:00 BST)

    Mike Henson
    BBC Sport

It's Brighton's first away game in the Premier League this afternoon - and let's hope that that doesn't mean that we hear any homophobic chants.

Brighton is a city well known for having a substantial lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. The Seagulls are the most prominent target of such abuse - but they are not the first or only club to suffer.

Musician Sir Elton John's position as chairman and then honorary life president means Watford fans have heard similar.

The fact Norwich have been represented by comedian and actor Stephen Fry in the boardroom and Justin Fashanu - Britain's first openly gay footballer - on the pitch trips a lonely cell in some supporters' minds.

As Brighton prepare for a first top-flight campaign in 34 years, the Premier League has already acted.

It has met Costa and Sussex police's hate crimes team, briefed other clubs about how to identify homophobic chanting and produced a poster to be displayed around stadiums.

There are plenty of early arrivals outside the ground at Anfield. There's a guitarist strumming along to Fields of Anfield Road and fans I've spoken to are all confident of a home win.

Two of them I bumped in to caught a five o'clock flight this morning from Bosnia and Herzegovina to be here today for the very first time.

Darko and Anela are their names and Darko said: "Can't wait! First time at Anfield I hope we will be Champions."

    Anfield

The future of Philippe Coutinho was a major talking point amongst others making their way to Anfield. One fan told me that he hoped Liverpool would stick to their word.

"I'm confident it can be resolved and the relationship is repaired. We've got a good side and he was the world at his feet. He'll be back playing if he isn't sold."

Burnley's XI are unchanged from the side that won 3-2 at Chelsea last week.

West Brom remain without defender Jonny Evans, who has a hamstring injury. The Baggies recently rejected a £18m bid from Manchester City for the Northern Ireland centre-back.

Midfielder Gareth Barry, 36, makes his debut for the visitors. He replaces Claudio Yacob.

Leicester are unchanged from that thrilling 4-3 defeat at Arsenal. Riyad Mahrez, who has seemingly been linked with a move away every week for the last two decades, starts again. Still no place for Kelechi Iheanacho who has a toe injury.

Jamie Murphy and Glenn Murray come into the Brighton side from defeat at the hands of Manchester City. Tomer Hemed and Izzy Brown - who aggravated a hamstring injury in the 2-0 loss - drop out.

Brown's omission means Brighton have four new faces in the line-up from last season.

Liverpool v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

Five changes for Liverpool from the side that started Tuesday's Champions League win against Hoffenheim.

Forward Mohamed Salah, the £34m signing from Roma, drops to the bench as Daniel Sturridge is given the nod by Jurgen Klopp.

There's a debut for Andrew Robertson at left-back, while James Milner, Joe Gomez and Ragnar Klavan also start. Trent Alexander-Arnold, who scored in Germany, is left out of the 18.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Gomez, Matip, Klavan, Robertson, Henderson, Milner, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Sturridge.

Crystal Palace XI: Hennessey, Fosu-Mensah, Dann, Tomkins, Ward, Milivojevic, Puncheon, Van Aanholt, Loftus-Cheek, Townsend, Benteke.
