    Leicester 1-0 Brighton

A first booking of the day as Wes Morgan brings Jamie Murphy down. Murphy got the better of the Leicester captain who clipped him. In comes the free-kick and it's a poor one, not beating the first man.

Jamie Vardy chases the clearance and wins a free-kick in his own half. Good play by the striker there, taking the pressure off his side. I say pressure, it was hardly intense.

A reminder of the teams if you are just joining us. So far we have had no changes...

Interestingly we have two teams here kind of using a 4-4-1-1 formation. I thought it was vogue to use three at the back these days?

Brighton start a touch more settled than in the opening period and construct an attack which leads to Bruno crossing for Glenn Murray but his touch gets away from him 12 yards out.

    Leicester 1-0 Brighton

Brighton will hope for better things but their kick-off routine is dire. Passed back to a man who lobs the ball wide and straight into touch. Right out of the Sunday league manual that one!

Brighton fans, Anthony Knockaert is warming up. I know some of you are wondering how he is not in the side. This of course would be an outing against one of his former clubs.

As you can see from the touch map above, Leicester (left) have had a lot more touches in the opposition area than their visitors (right). Brighton have had just three touches in the box.

That decision to make Jamie Vardy captain in my fantasy football team is not really looking all too good right now. This was one of two openings he had in that first half but the keeper was out to thwart him.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 19 August 2017

    Leicester 1-0 Brighton

A half which started well with a goal inside a minute but to be honest, it was downhill from there in terms of quality.

Not that Leicester will care all too much. They have looked comfortable if unspectacular. I'll bring you stats next...

Ooofff. I felt that. Shane Duffy has eyes on the ball and runs before jumping straight through the back of Shinji Okazaki. The Leicester striker was just stood there waiting for the ball to drop when Duffy's knees crashed through the back of his shoulders.

Up they get and oddly, Okazaki is the man done for a foul. That is a strange one.

It's a mechanical display from Brighton. A lot of throw-ins, a bit of territory but nothing of any quality or spark where it matters. When they keep the ball they are pressed and in truth, it only looks like a matter of time before they lose it. Leicester let them have it deep in their half as time ticks away...

Very little threat from Brighton throughout this 42 minutes. The reality is coming home as to what the Premier League is out. They look organised and hard working but not yet a threat.

  13. CLOSE!published at 15:42 British Summer Time 19 August 2017

    Leicester 1-0 Brighton

Jamie Vardy pulls the ball down 18 yards out, right side of the area. He has little on so pauses briefly and looks up. With a dummy followed by a low cross he's made a great chance for Shinji Okazaki at the near post but his effort is wide. In fairness to Okazaki, he threw himself at it.

The home side have a free-kick in a dangerous area, just to the left of the Brighton box. Riyad Mahrez sends in an outswinger which is headed clear to Matty James. Chest, volley, over.

Shinji Okazaki has the goal and has completed nine out of nine passes. He's a beacon of productivity in an otherwise scrappy game.

Leicester are using the right flank a lot, as you may expect with Riyad Mahrez out there. Craig Shakespeare is up off his bench and pointing a lot.

Brighton not trying anything fancy. A free-kick on the halfway line will be pumped at the area by Pascal Gross. They don't commit too many bodies though and Leicester clear and break. Marc Albrighton has the ball and clearly wants space to shoot. He drops the shoulder a couple of times and hits... deflected... corner.

Harry Maguire has seen more of the ball than anyone on the pitch so far with 31 touches.

Looking at that Brighton penalty appeal again they have a case but it's not a strong one. Wes Morgan was falling to his right as Jamie Murphy's shot hit him. It was a mixture of chest and his right arm. Seen them given - but not too often.

Brighton want a penalty, claiming handball. They attack through a long ball aimed at Glenn Murray which is headed down into the path of Jamie Murphy. His shot is stinging and hits a Leicester body. The claim goes up but is ignored. It looked like it hit the chest to me.

Good to see Referee Lee Probert back on the Premier League list. He had a lengthy injury and returned to the top flight at the end of last season.

Wilfred Ndidi has a leggy frame and wins the ball in midfield. Riyad Mahrez on the ball, picks out Christian Fuchs who advances from left-back. His cross is deflected for a corner which is whipped in with pace but headed clear.
