  1. We should have won - Hughtonpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

    Watford 0-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Chris Hughton, speaking to BBC Sport after his team earned their first Premier League point: "I'm pleased we have got off the mark but disappointed because the game could have and should have been won.

"We should have had a penalty when we were given an indirect free-kick in the box. I know why referee has made decision but the Watford player caught Anthony Knockaert."

On the incident: "My first impression was that he caught Anthony but I can't see properly from my position. But seeing it again and seeing blood on Anthony's nose then he's caught him. If he's caught him then it's a penalty.

"But the referee wasn't sure so he didn't give it. When you're on that side of decisions like them it is tough."

Jonathan Rowland: West Ham are in serious trouble this season if this performance is anything to go by.

Stuart Loveday: Bilic has to go. Been given enough chances and failed.

  3. Britos has apologised - Gomespublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

    Watford 0-0 Brighton

    Watford

Watford skipper Heurelho Gomes on Miguel Britos' first-half red card: "Of course he apologised and we need to apologise to the Brighton players as well.

"He knows what he did and I don't think he did it intentionally. He always goes for the ball and he goes fair, but he lost timing and caught the player."

All smiles, apart from the small minority with a West Ham allegiance. Slaven Bilic has a downcast demeanour at the best of times. Right now the Hammers boss looks like he has just been told the A1 is completely closed just south of Scotch Corner. Miserable.

West Ham are desperate for the whistle now. They're all over the shop. Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez has a pop from distance, but slices it into Row H.

    Crystal Palace 0-2 Swansea

A few more boos from those Palace fans still inside Selhurst as the final whistle goes. The rest couldn't even be bothered to do that. And I don't blame them.

After an encouraging away performance at Liverpool last week, despite defeat, it is another limp home loss for the Eagles.

And that's that. Southampton almost nick all three points but must settle for just one. Huddersfield are top of the Premier League!

Southampton almost win it! Huddersfield skipper Tommy Smith needs to be alert to be perfectly placed and hack Ryan Bertrand's header off the line.

    Aleksandar Mitrovic

Now they have missed a goal! More misery for West Ham as Aleksandar Mitrovic wraps up a much-needed Newcastle win. Ayoze Perez slides the ball through to the Serb, who holds his line and keeps his composure to round Joe Hart and slot in.

West Ham fans have decided enough is enough. Well it is a long walk back down to earth.

And they nearly missed a goal. For Newcastle. Joe Hart gets down low to stop substitute Aleksandar Mitrovic's strike.

A Palace goal now would throw a cat among the pigeons. Andros Townsend comes close but drills inches past the post. Now or never...

    Huddersfield 0-0 Southampton

Southampton have decided they want to go and win this now. Nathan Redmond's low cross from the left causes panic, especially when team-mate Maya Yoshida sticks out a leg. A slight touch sends the ball past the far post as Shane Long desperately tries to lunge in.

Southampton have only managed one shot on target... oh, here's another. Space opens up inside the Terriers box and Nathan Redmond's eyes light up. He tries to bend the ball into the right corner, but it is too easy for home keeper Jonas Lossl.

Any bright spots for Palace? Not really. I suppose one positive has been the sight of Yohan Cabaye adding some much need quality. The Frenchman whips a 20-yard free-kick just over the Swansea bar.

Not much to see here. And I don't think either side will be completely happy with a point.

Unless... Richarlison surges in from the left, slipping the ball to record signing Andre Gray. The £18m man shanks it wide.
