  1. goal

GOAL - Newcastle 2-0 West Hampublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

    Ciaran Clark

    Game over? You'd think so.

Matt Ritchie has been excellent today and tees up the goal after harrying and hassling Manuel Lanzini on the Hammers left.

Not once, not twice, but three times it takes Ritchie to win it back, then he delivers a beauty of a cross for Ciaran Clark to thump in the header.

What's he doing there? No-one knows. No-one of a Newcastle persuasion cares!

    Huddersfield 0-0 Southampton

With Manchester United playing later, Huddersfield will go top of the Premier League with a point. They want all three. Kasey Palmer's 20-yard shot is deflected out for corner, before his set-piece is met by fellow sub Danny Williams. His header goes up rather than down and Southampton are off the hook.

Palace need inspiration. Frank de Boer doesn't feel inspiring - even in is interviews. Rafa Benitez has instilled inspiration at Newcastle.

    That's what Crystal Palace need.

    Crystal Palace 0-2 Swansea

Better from Palace. But it's probably too late. Yohan Cabaye injects a jolt of class, playing a neat one-two with Jason Puncheon to dance through the Swansea defence... got to be? No! Mike van der Hoorn appears from almost nowhere, sliding in to dispossess the France international.

    Newcastle 1-0 West Ham

Another goal would see Newcastle home and dry, one would suggest. The home side almost get it with their best chance of the afternoon (well, other than the goal).

Hammers keeper Joe Hart has to stretch to deny Matt Ritchie following a cheeky run by the Scotland winger, who sticks the ball through the legs of Mark Noble in midfield. See ya!

Ritchie tries to place the ball in the far corner, Hart pushing the ball out towards Joselu. Luckily for the visitors, Pablo Zabaleta is alert to nip in and slide clear.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Southampton

Nicely poised is this game. Southampton, despite their struggles in getting beyond the home defence, have shaded possession and will be still confident of nicking a goal.

Huddersfield have looked slightly more menacing going forward.

  9. 'Buzzing'published at 16:22 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

    FT: Bournemouth 1-2 Man City

"Football at its best, emotional final few minutes most important thing today is we stayed together as a team for the full 90 mins and got the vital 3 points, also buzzing to get the winner!!!!"

Last roll of the Palace dice. Yohan Cabaye, back for his first appearance of the season after injury, comes on as the home side look to perform an escape act that Houdini would have been proud of.

  11. Postpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

    Watford 0-0 Brighton

Brighton, still searching for their first Premier League goal remember, have a decent chance here. They have an indirect free-kick inside the Watford box, a few shenanigans as the home players race forward before the ball is touched. Eventually the visitors get with it, Lewis Dunk's effort going wide.

  12. Postpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

    Newcastle 1-0 West Ham

Should Javier Hernandez still be on the pitch? Newcastle fans think not. Already on a yellow, the Mexican hacks down Javier Manquillo but escapes further punishment.

And then he almost scores the equaliser. Ciaran Clark is on hand to hack clear, rather impressively while off balance. Could easily have ended in his own goal.

  13. Postpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

    Huddersfield 0-0 Southampton

All a bit flat since the break. Not much of a pattern play. Southampton are still struggling to make an impact in the Huddersfield box, managing just TWO touches in the danger-zone in the opening 55 minutes.

Striker Manolo Gabbiadini has not had one of them. He's had a quieter afternoon than a security guard at a tea party.

Martin Kelly has had the most extraordinary day on the field.

He has panicked twice in two crucial situations.

  16. goal

GOAL - Crystal Palace 0-2 Swanseapublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

    Jordan Ayew

    Oh no! Poor Martin Kelly...

It is not Kelly's afternoon. Another ricket from the Palace man, who tries to play his way out of trouble on the halfway line, only to have his pocket picked by Kyle Naughton.

The Swans full-back plays a perfect throughball to Jordan Ayew, who only has Wayne Hennessey to beat. That he does, although he needs a bit of fortune with a ricochet off the Palace keeper, before tapping in.

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Swansea

Martin Kelly has to take a huge portion of blame for Swansea's opener, so it would be sweet for the Palace defender if he could atone for it by netting the equaliser.

From a Palace corner, he climbs above Alfie Mawson to head goalwards.

    Encouraging signs for Palace.

    Kevin Kilbane
Former Huddersfield winger on Final Score

It was worrying how well Swansea were moving the ball during that half. Palace were totally sat off - they were allowing them far too much possession.

De Boer needs to squeeze that quality out of his side in the second half.

Desperate times call for.... Lee Chung-yong. Palace make their second change of the afternoon, although this one appears to be tactical, as the South Korean winger comes on for Patrick van Aanholt.

  20. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

We are back under way in the 3pm fixtures. Not a lot of goals around in the first half, but no shortage of incidents.
