I can see why Ronald Koeman has brought Besic on for Tom Davies.

If I'm honest the occasion looked a bit much for Davies this afternoon - the match was passing him by.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche was on Sportsweek on BBC Radio 5 live earlier today: "Chris Wood is a recognised forward, scoring goals freely in the Championship and he's been known about for a long time.

"Paying £15m does not even cross my mind - the numbers are almost irrelevant. If we can spend £15m on someone it demonstrates the club is in good financial health.

"The transfer market is very tough - numbers don't make real sense anymore. There's no real method to the finances - if you want a player you just have to pay what's asked.

"I have to balance the realities of this club financially, to enable us to move forward in a controlled fashion. Because, of course, this business does not always want control, in terms of player transfers and so on."

You don't need any unpleasant hype to sell this contest. We have enjoyed Liverpool against Arsenal for years and years and years.

With the attacking talent that both sides have at their disposal, and with both sides showing vulnerability at the back, then it would be remarkable if we don't see some goals this afternoon.

In keeping with the boxing overnight, this is Liverpool's first heavyweight match of the domestic season. I was at the pre-match press conference this week and Jurgen Klopp was in usual good form.

Despite the start made by Arsenal, Klopp said that under Arsene Wenger they are still an outstanding strong side.

Klopp called the Anfield crowd to create the same atmosphere as they did on Wednesday night which helped inspire the Reds to a victory over Hoffenheim and secure a place in the Champions League group stage. "We need that help," Klopp said.

Everton's struggle to get in the game at Stamford Bridge is emphasised by Wayne Rooney's lack of presence in Chelsea's penalty area.

The former England striker has cut a frustrated figure and the touch map, right, shows he hasn't managed been on the ball once in the Chelsea box.

By contrast Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata has been in the thick of the action in and around the danger areas as displayed by his touch map on the left.

Everton have simply dropped deeper and deeper, giving far too much respect to Chelsea. Offensively the visitors have been non-existent.

Febregas' finish was lovely, with the outside of his right foot. But I've been looking at Ronald Koeman who's been scratching his head for the entire 45 minutes.

There is no threat, no pace, no width from Everton. Koeman simply has to bring on Calvert-Lewin - it's the only change he can make.

Azpilicueta had all the time in the world to pick our Morata with the cross. And Jagielka stands still in the box appealing for offside! Let the assistant referee raise his flag if he wants - just concentrate on getting your head onto that ball and clearing it.

A sloppy goal to concede, and if it was going to be hard for Everton to come back from 1-0 down then it's doubly hard now.

    Playing like champions again.

Referees have taken a battering this weekend, but referee Jon Moss has played a brilliant advantage when Victor Moses is felled on the edge of the box.

The chance looks to be lost, but Cesar Azpilicueta plays an inviting cross into the box and it is fellow Spaniard Alvaro Morata who plants home a towering header from around eight yards out.

Time to get the sangrias out.
