Johnny Magrinho: Duggan needs to be introduced soon. Kirby - as great as she is - seems to be lacking killer instinct Duggan has. Next goal wins

  2. Postpublished at 58 mins

    England 0-0 France

Fran Kirby has been England's best attacker so far and she works hard to forge a half opening on the left, but Elelen White can't make anything of it and it's cleared. Will Mark Sampson be thinking of changes? He has Toni Duggan, Izzy Christiansen, Karen Carney and Nikita Parris on the bench.

  3. CLOSE!published at 55 mins

    England 0-0 France

Lucy Bronze sleeping at the far post as she fails to get off the ground and Eugenie le Sommer climbs brilliantly to flash a header narrowly past the post. France enjoying a strong spell.

  4. "A bit scrappy"published at 52 mins

    England 0-0 France

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live

Neither team wants to give anything but neither team can get a foothold in the game either. It reminds me of many games I've played against France in the past - a bit scrappy and nobody wants to back out of any challenges.

Foul throw! Bordering on unforgivable that particular footballing sin. Lucy Bronze in my bad books.

Still no shots on target from either side. Extra time and penalties?

  6. The referee got it rightpublished at 20:51 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

    England 0-0 France

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live

Jill Scott was late but she was stretching with one foot and it was on the ground. It wasn't reckless or dangerous - it was just mistimed. A yellow card was the right decision.

  7. Postpublished at 52 mins

    England 0-0 France

That's three times in this second half already that Fran Kirby has almost poked a ball through on the edge of the area. It's that sort of tight night when one key pass could make the difference.

  8. Postpublished at 50 mins

    England 0-0 France

Fran Kirby's first touch is superb to tame a chip over the top but she can't find Jill Scott running inside. France then bring it clear easily enough.

  9. Postpublished at 46 mins

Jill Scott into attacking action straight away before her ball through for Fran Kirby is cut out. Laura Georges then hoiks a clearance out of play. Ramp up the pressure!

France get us up and running. England potentially 45 minutes away from a semi-final berth.

A penny for Mark Sampson's thoughts at half time then. Maybe England will need to play at their best in the second 45? Here we go...

  12. Postpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

    England 0-0 France

It was not a great challenge from Jill Scott, no. I've just seen it again and you could see a red given for sure...

John Pierce: Red card all day that for Jill Scott. Two footed off the ground, lucky lady.

  14. England finish half on toppublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

    England 0-0 France

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport in Deventer

England finish the half on top. France threatened to take charge, but Mark Sampson's team seemed more dangerous when they got the ball forward more quickly and their passing has definitely improved.

Meanwhile, Kicky the mascot is firing presents into the crowd at those who scream loudest!

    England 0-0 France

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

England's best chances have come from set pieces. Neither team have been able to play their best football yet but that's because we've got two very good teams and two tactically astute managers up against each other.

  16. Penalties?published at 20:34 British Summer Time 30 July 2017

England lost on penalties to France in 2011 at the World Cup.

It's not going to go that way again is it?!

Millie Bright probably had the best chance of that first half for England, there was little to report though. A tense, very competitive game.

  20. England need to "find their rhythm"published at 43 mins

    England 0-0 France

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

England have not quite found that cutting edge although they've dominated the possession and the statistics. They've started to take more care with their passes as there is a bit of zip on the pitch. They're just trying to find their rhythm at the moment.
