He says in his programme notes 'The Carabao Cup is a competition we want to do well in and that will be reflected in the team that I select this evening. You'll do well to find a prettier ground in English football, but West Ham arrive in Gloucestershire with a form guide that is not so easy on the eye. The Hammers are looking for their first win of the season.

League Two Cheltenham, who are meeting West Ham for only the second time in their history, would feel higher than the Cleeve Hill in the background if they could pull off a shock result tonight.

Football isn't usually the order of the day in these parts, with racing, rugby and cricket enjoying significant popularity, but walking to the ground tonight, you could sense an anticipation of a big game.

... and there's definitely the potential for an upset at the LCI Rail Stadium - Whaddon Road in old money - where League Two Cheltenham host a West Ham side that has not had the best of starts to the season.

The Hammers lost their opening two Premier League fixtures, conceding seven goals, and the last thing they could do with is a bad result tonight.

"We know they will play almost like a cup final," says West Ham boss Slaven Bilic.

"There is only one thing we have to do to stop that and it is to play the game like it is the last game of our lives."
