    Cantona the key for Leeds?

I was really impressed by Cantona in the Charity Shield. I think he has that creative spark to inspire Leeds to back-to-back titles...

    Tom in Derby

Really looking forward to seeing John Jensen score his first goal for Arsenal. Hopefully today with any luck.

You are in luck Nick. The engineroom of Denmark's European Championship-winning team is straight into George Graham's line-up to face Norwich.

Three international midfielders can’t get into the Leeds side. Indeed, £2m record signing David Rocastle can’t even get on the bench which features Steve Hodge, Gordon Strachan and reserve goalkeeper Mervyn Day.

Clubs can name a third substitute – a keeper – this season but only two substitutions can be made during a game.

    Three point six million pounds...

Alan Shearer's £3.6m fee has easily eclipsed the domestic transfer record, set when Liverpool paid £2.9m to Derby County for Dean Saunders. The price is high for a player who has yet to prove himself properly at senior international level and, before last year, had managed only 10 League goals in four seasons.

But the 21-year-old Geordie is clearly the leading English striker of his generation, the natural successor to Gary Lineker after his record-breaking goalscoring feats in an England Under-21 shirt. Eight years younger than Ian Wright, Shearer is also more highly regarded than Sheffield Wednesday's David Hirst in the England camp.

Managers, at club and national level, admire his equable temperament, and given a more supportive midfield than Southampton's, he should feature alongside the likes of Wright at the top of the Premier League scoring charts.

Adam Diouri: Can't see Norwich having a good day against Arsenal. In fact, can see them struggling this season & going down!

Mike: A new dawn in football. Everton - the Mersey millionaires - will be Premier League powerhouses for decades

James H: I'm intrigued how Alan Shearer will get on - £3.6m for a footballer? Outrageous amount of money. No-one is worth that.

The worry at Bramall Lane all summer has been a bigger club coming in to take Brian Deane away. But the number 10 starts for the Blades, fresh from 12 league goals last season.

Defender Alan McLeary is the only new face - he's just arrived on loan from Millwall.

    Sheff U

No debutants for Manchester United either, although big summer signing Dion Dublin is an option on the bench.

With Bryan Robson injured the manager's son, Darren Ferguson, gets the chance to earn a regular starting place in the heart of midfield. Defender Mal Donaghy completed a £150,000 move to Chelsea this week while Neil Webb continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

Mark Robins joined Norwich just yesterday! A gamble?

    What's new in 1992?

What will become of this guy?

Earlier this summer, Fifa decided to make defenders' fall-back option of a pass back to the goalkeeper decidedly more risky.

Previously the man between the sticks - provided he was in the penalty area - could pick up the ball, take up to four steps with it in his gloves and then punt downfield.

Now, regardless of where he is on pitch, the goalie has to field a pass from a team-mate's feet with his own. Chaos!

Goalkeepers only have their own defenders to blame after the tactic of passing back to a goalkeeper was used rather cynically to run down the clock at World Cup 1990 and Euro 92.

The rule has been tested out at the Olympics football in Barcelona last month a few weeks back - with the likes of United States' Brad Friedel getting to grips with it.

Now, let's see how it works out on the domestic stage.

A time when Snap were top of the charts with 'Rhythm is a Dancer,' Sally Gunnell and Linford Christie had wowed us in Barcelona and Aladdin and Wayne's World had you queuing round the block at your local cinema.
