    Stoke 2-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic: "We have to be satisfied because they are a good team but of course, we didn't come here to get just one point.

"We are not happy because if you want to be champions you have to win games like these.

"I know it's hard and teams like Stoke are tough at home. We have to forget this now and focus on our next game in the Champions League."

    Stoke 2-2 Man Utd

    Stoke City

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes, speaking to BBC Sport: "We were up against the best side in the Premier League judging by what they have shown so far.

"We didn't allow them as much space and everything I asked the guys to do, they fulfilled. We have had a tough start.

"We are showing the potential we have and we look in good knick and we're all excited by what is ahead for us."

  5. 'Decent bit of business'published at 19:54 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Stoke 2-2 Man Utd

    Stoke City

Stoke manager Mark Hughes, speaking to BBC Sport on goalscorer Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting: "He will get the headlines and rightly so because he was a big part of the performance and the result overall.

"He should be pleased and I was delighted when I got him here. It was a decent bit of business in my view."

On Darren Fletcher: "He has come to us and I haven't been disappointed in any aspect. He has had to overcome adversity with his health and you can see how that has shaped his career.

"We were missing our captain but he stepped up and you can see the qualities he possess in terms of leadership."

  6. 'I didn't think there was an issue'published at 19:51 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Stoke 2-2 Man Utd

    Stoke City

Stoke manager Mark Hughes, speaking to BBC Sport on not shaking hands with Jose Mourinho: "It didn't happen. I seem to get involved in hand-shake issues!

"I'm not sure why he didn't want to shake my hand, I didn't think there were any issues.

"There was a time he came into my technical box and I told him to get out but that was it. Maybe that was what upset him!"

  7. 'That's a bad question'published at 19:46 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Stoke 2-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

A slightly tense end to Jose Mourinho's interview with Match of the Day commentator Steve Wilson, who asked about the lack of handshake between the managers at full time.

Jose Mourinho: "I prefer not to answer question about handshakes - it's a bad question. It makes it look like it's my fault but that's not right."

And with that, Mourinho exits stage right.

  8. 'Lukaku's miss doesn't matter if we defend the corner'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Stoke 2-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Jose Mourinho, speaking to Match of the Day: "I'm happy with Lukaku with or without goals because his contribution is always good.

"With one more goal we win 3-2 but without the mistake at the corner then we win 2-1 and Lukaku's miss doesn't matter.

"That was a great save by David de Gea - the only one he did, because in the first half there was only a couple of slow shots by Xherdan Shaqiri.

"But we couldn't protect the corner and he was punished, we were punished."

    Stoke 2-2 Man Utd

Jose Mourinho is being a bit unfair to Stoke there. United did have 63% possession and eight more shots but the hosts hardly parked the bus.

Stoke deserved a point, not just on their defending but because of their enterprise going forward, too.

  11. Postpublished at 19:40 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Stoke 2-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, speaking to Match of the Day: "No I'm not satisfied with a point because we were the team closer to winning.

"I have to say it is a result I accept though.

"One team tried to win, one team tried to get the point but they fought hard to get that point - they defended well, they counter-attacked and in set-pieces they are powerful."

"Stoke are big, strong and powerful in the air. They fought hard and probably deserved a point.

"A point is a point. It is not what we came for but a point is a point."

    Stoke City

Stoke captain Darren Fletcher, speaking to BT Sport: "What a team performance. The work rate and the attitude was great. We went 2-1 down and came back again.

"We showed confidence and played some good football on the ball. We have had a good start to the season because we have had some difficult games."

  14. 'I hope more goals are coming'published at 19:32 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Stoke 2-2 Man Utd

    Stoke City

Stoke striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, speaking to BT Sport: "We came back after 2-1 down so personally I'm happy for my goals but most importantly we played a great game at home.

"My aim is always to score or get an assist so I'm very happy we didn't lose and I'm happy for my first goals for Stoke - I hope to continue like that.

"A striker is always rated by assists and goals but I always try to play well and give 100% for the team.

"Games like against Arsenal we did great - I didn't score but I felt I did a good performance.

"I hope there are more goals coming. We've had two strong teams at home - Arsenal and Manchester United - and we did well both times."

Darren Fletcher showed absolutely superb leadership right until the end. In the second period, that was one of the reasons Stoke matched United's midfield.

Full marks to Stoke. That was absolutely superb. They kept Romelu Lukaku quiet and Paul Pogba found it hard to breakthrough as well.

Sure enough that was Man Utd's last chance as Neil Swarbrick whistles for full time.

It's enough for the visitors to move back top of the table, over rivals Manchester City on goal difference.

But it's also the first dropped points of the season for Jose Mourinho's side.

Huge credit to Stoke, who were mightily impressive and fought back brilliantly after going 2-1 down.
