    Liverpool v Sevilla (Wednesday)

    Ian Brown
    BBC football commentator

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp tells his audience that they must wait 24 hours to see if Philippe Coutinho will return for Liverpool against Sevilla. Loris Karius will play in goal and Mo Salah is a doubt after being kept out of training with a throat infection. Klopp said he was not surprised that the Sadio Mane appeal failed but the Senegal international can play tomorrow when Group E gets underway.

    Chelsea 2-0 Qarabag

Qarabag have the first effort of the second half as the superbly-monikered Dino Ndlovu - no relation - hits one from 20 yards but it's an easy save for Thibaut Courtois.

  3. 'Manchester United a bit sluggish'published at 20:51 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Manchester United 1-0 Basel

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Spurs and England winger on 5 live Sport

Promising start by Basel who have upped the tempo. Manchester United have started a bit sluggish.

  4. Postpublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Manchester United 1-0 Basel

No changes at half time from Jose Mourinho. There was one, potentially significant, one in the first half of course as Marouane Fellaini replaced the injured Paul Pogba.

  5. Surely a cross?published at 20:48 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Chelsea 2-0 Qarabag

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
    BBC Radio 5 live

Chelsea started really fast as if to let the new-boys know that they weren't going to get any favours and sure enough Pedro curled in a sweet finish in just the 5th minute to put Chelsea in charge but Davide Zappacosta's goal was quite remarkable - a 70-yard sprint down the right wing and a cross (surely not intentional) which flew straight in at the near post to rather embarrass the goalkeeper.

Who needs Diego Costa when you've got Zappacosta?

Every time Zappacosta gets the ball now the Chelsea fans are encouraging him to shoot and we've also had a rendition of "Zappacosta, he scores when he wants".

And the second halves are back up and running across the continent...

  7. Fellaini's so importantpublished at 20:44 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Man Utd 1-0 Basel

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho marched straight off at half-time having got it spot on yesterday when he said he would much prefer to have Marouane Fellaini in his squad than not.

In the summer, when Fellaini was linked with Fenerbahce, Mourinho said the Turkish side had more chance of signing him than the Belgian midfielder.

Interestingly, four of Fellaini's last five goals - since the start of last season - have been scored at Old Trafford.

  9. 'Basel have parked the bus'published at 20:35 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Manchester United 1-0 Basel

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Spurs and England winger on 5 live Sport

United are the far better team, but they haven't produced the form we have seen in the Premier League. Basel have parked the bus and it's been difficult for United. If they can switch the tempo, they can get a lot more goals.

  11. 'Half-time team talks'published at 20:33 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Manchester United 1-0 Basel

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Spurs and England winger on 5 live Sport

At half-time, Mourinho will tell his players they need to be quicker and move the ball quicker. The Basel coach will be saying that they're only 1-0 down.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic 0-3 PSG

You could say PSG look good going forward.

What can Brendan do about this one?

GOAL - Barcelona 1-0 Juventuspublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Lionel Messi

Juventus have been largely on top but when you've got Lionel Messi up front you're always in with a chance.

It's standard brilliance from Messi, a one-two with Luis Suarez and then a low shot in off the base of the post from 20 yards. Gold.

  15. Postpublished at 20:31 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Manchester United 1-0 Basel

Manchester United almost play themselves into trouble as David de Gea has to deal with a tricky backpass but he does indeed deal with well and plays his way out. Jose Mourinho will be pleased with his side's control of this game but will wonder how it is only 1-0.

  17. 'The coach tells them to get back'published at 20:27 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Manchester United 1-0 Basel

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Spurs and England winger on 5 live Sport

Basel are very wary when they go forward. There's only three or four of them that have the legs to move forward and then you can see the coach telling them to get back. But they seem to have found some energy, they're finding space and moving the ball quicker.
