Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, on BT Sport: "Back to normality. For us, as a group, after one season playing Europa League, is a change and a change for more motivation and more difficulty.

On Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling playing together: "They work together every day since the moment we know they would be the obvious choice for this match. The understanding is good. They are good players. I trust them.

On Ashley Young: "He is a fit guy and works hard. It is not difficult for him to get the fitness levels to play. We believe Ashley can give us what we need. By having Antonio (Valencia) on the bench we have protection."

It looks like a glimpse into the Manchester United future at Old Trafford tonight.

With Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia on the bench, Paul Pogba has been named captain even though Chris Smalling, who also starts, has done the job in the past.

When I asked Jose Mourinho earlier this summer if Pogba was captaincy material, the United boss said he was and hinted he would be United's next long-term skipper.

  17. Super Simeone?published at 19:24 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

Roma v Atletico Madrid (19:45 BST)

Barca versus Juve is not the only mouthwatering Spain v Italy tie this evening as Atletico Madrid travel to the Stadio Olimpico to face Serie A runners-up Roma.

Atletico are a force to be reckoned with. Twice runners-up in the past four seasons, and a semi-final loss to eventual winners Real Madrid last season, coach Diego Simeone knows what to do, and how to do it, in the Champions League.

Roma are back in Europe's big time and have a point to prove, having missed out on qualifying for the group stages last season after losing to Porto in the play-offs.

In a group which also includes Premier League champions Chelsea, both sides will be looking to impress.
