  1. 'We need to be more ruthless'published at 21:56 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Spartak Moscow 1-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, speaking to BT Sport: "It's disappointing. We controlled the game from start to finish so we should win it comfortably.

"We have got to make sure we don’t give goals away first and foremost.

"On another day it could have been three or four. The performance was decent but not enough to win the game. I thought we defended well for the majority of the game. But we have to finish the game off and be more ruthless."

    Manchester City 2-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

    Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne tells BT Sport: "I definitely think it is not my best game, it is the way it goes. It was hard graft today but this team can play. We were better in the second half, created more chances and in the end it was a deserved victory.

"It is better if we score earlier. We will score five, six goals or we can win 1-0, 2-0 too. It was another clean sheet.

"Sergio Aguero is our number one penalty taker. Even if he misses, we still have the confidence in him and he will get a few more penalties in his career."

    Save that...

Harry Kane after his hat-trick for Tottenham: "It is a very proud night for myself and the team. I try and score every game - It is a bonus when I get three.

"We weren't pleased with the first-half and a couple of chances could have gone the other way. We were more clinical and in the Champions League that is what you have got to be.

"We are missing a few players but the lads who stepped in were fantastic. We have a solid squad and you have to be ready. 3-0 away in the Champions League no matter who you play is a good result."

    Apoel Nicosia 0-3 Tottenham

Harry Kane had 39 touches for Spurs tonight - the fewest of any Spurs player who started the game.

Apoel had 15 shots, Spurs 16. It was a closer game than the scoreline suggests but the number 10 put the chances away superbly. Again.

It was all about Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored a brace on his 400th appearance for Real Madrid.

Gareth Bale kicked things off with a stunning volley in the 18th minute and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's second-half goal wasn't enough to inspire a comeback for Dortmund.

    Apoel Nicosia 0-3 Tottenham

    John Southall
BBC Radio Five Live football reporter

He marched off at the end with the match ball and it is turning into a spectacular September for Harry Kane.

It was a wonderful hat-trick, twice he nonchalantly swept in from 16 yards out and the third he headed into the bottom corner.

He makes goalscoring look easy and has the air of a man who knows he's going to score. The stats are stacking up - it's nine goals in the last five games and five Champions League goals this season.

He said this week that he wants to compete with Messi and Ronaldo, well he's now doing that.

Into the 97th minute. Eight minutes were added on and there was another injury too. Can Liverpool force a winner?

The shot count reads 15 to three. Standard stuff for Liverpool?

As Raheem Sterling's shot hit the net, Pep Guardiola turned round to his friends in the stand and shook his fists at them in delight.

In the background, Benjamin Mendy was there too, having made his way down from his seat.

Wonder how long it will be before he is back out on the pitch again.

That is what Manchester City have deserved. We were a little concerned they could concede one when it was 1-0 but they broke the offside trap well there.

Raheem Sterling's timing of the run was superb. He was not going to miss that one.
