James O'Shannessey: I'm utterly tired of the traditional post-loss blame Jose show. How about for a change we talk about how Blind and Darmian's mistakes are constantly heping pressure on our defence. And what about Ander Herrera? What has happened to him?

Kyle: You guys should balance up the Mourinho argument. 2 trophies last season still in all 4 competitions this season. Top of their Champions League group and 2nd in the league. Scored 4 goals or more 8 times already this season.

The thing with Fellaini is - whatever people say about him being poor technically - he does the job that's asked of him and he does it effectively. They should definitely be signing him up!

    Let it all out, Mike.

Mourinho's away record is terrible and we are terrible to watch. We have Watford and Arsenal away next, and City at home after that - he needs all nine points. I never wanted him as a manager, he is a fading force, a charlatan.

  9. 'The ball is everything'published at 22:08 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2017

    PSG 7-1 Celtic

    Brendan RodgersImage source, Reuters

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers: "It is a sore one. We conceded seven goals in Barcelona as well but there were lots of moments here where we were very good I felt. You have to admire their quality.

"They always threatened and scored some outstanding goals. I was proud of the players. We are disappointed with the goals we gave away and you can't give away cheap goals at this level. The ball is everything, we gave it away and we were punished.

"But it goes to the final game and we can still qualify for the Europa League.

"We came here to play against the best of the best. I'd be very surprised if PSG don't make the final of the competition.

"We played five at the back, what do you want me to do? Play seven? Sometimes you have to take your hat off to their quality. Our players ran themselves into the ground but made mistakes."

  10. 'We should have been 5-0 up'published at 22:06 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2017

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to BT Sport: "We lost because in the first half we should be 5-0 up but we could not score one goal after being so dominant. It looks for many periods in the first half it was impossible not to win. I think the majority of the second half the feeling of everyone was OK, it will be 0-0, but they got the late goal.

"It is not fair for Blind to blame himself. He had a very positive game. We have to blame everyone on the pitch because we had so many chances.

"We don't need to win the (final group) match, we don't even need to draw, but obviously we will try to win."

Anthony: I don't want to see Blind at full-back again, he's such a liability. It's time Mourinho puts his faith in Luke Shaw again, it hurts seeing him on the outskirts.

  12. Mourinho not to blamepublished at 22:02 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2017

    Basel 1-0 Manchester United

    Ian Wright
Former Arsenal & England striker on Radio 5 live

Mourinho started with Martial, Lukaku, Lingard - so I don't think it was negative football that lost the game for United - it was missed chances and a lack of intensity.

  13. 'Celtic should be able to avoid a 7-1'published at 22:02 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2017

    PSG 7-1 Celtic

    Tom English
    Chief sports writer, BBC Scotland

Allowing for the financial disparity, allowing for PSG’s brilliance, it does not reflect well on Brendan Rodgers as a manager, a man we have eulogised, that he cannot find a way to lessen the damage against these elite teams.

The gap is huge and remaining huge. He’s overseen some mortifications. His team tonight defensively were a shambles, some players lost their nerve, they lost the pace completely by the end.

All the points are valid about Celtic's lack of being tested domestically, but you’d expect over the length of time he’s been there and the manager we think he is, to be able to find a way somehow to avoid 7-1.

Richard Fridl: United fans were unsure about Mourinho's appointment, but now we know for sure. We have a manager that doesn't want to lose - what we need at this club - is a manager that wants to win.

Ricky Lee Everett: And that is why Jose won't be around for long, negligient and negative against a soft opposition - United were shameful in the second half.

    Basel 1-0 Manchester United

    Ian Wright

It was a poor showing from United, it was sloppy. I thought they should have really blasted Basel from the start. Mourinho needed Lukaku to get on the shoulder and get people around him, supporting him, but they didn't. It was a really poor performance in the end.

  16. 'Please, no more!'published at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2017

    PSG 7-1 Celtic

    Scott McDonald
Former Celtic striker on BBC Sportsound

When they scored the seventh, Cavani’s on a hat-trick, Neymar’s on a hat-trick, you fear the worst. You’re thinking, please no more.

I’ve been there before where I’ve been heavily beaten and you just want the ground to swallow you up. You could see they’d all blown a fuse once the fifth goal went in, the brain stopped working, there were a lot more gaps.

I fully expect Celtic to do really well in the Europa League, but how many years running is it going to be acceptable to get beaten by five, six and seven goals?

  17. Man Utd all but through despite defeatpublished at 21:54 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2017

    Basel 1-0 Manchester United

A disappointing result but Manchester United are all but through.

The only way they will fail to progress is if they lose by more than six goals against CSKA Moscow.

If Basel match or better CSKA's result in the final round of matches, they will go through to the last 16.

  19. 'Nobody likes to concede seven'published at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2017

    PSG 7-1 Celtic

    Scott BrownImage source, Reuters

Celtic captain Scott Brown on BT Sport: "Some of the goals were sloppy, the first three goals maybe. They have top class players. We lost our shape and our focus when they scored a few quick goals.

"We need to be lucky and get some breaks. Take nothing away from them they played really well. Losing seven goals, nobody likes to do that.

"We tried to play, we don't ping it long and defend for 90 minutes, that's not the gaffer's philosophy."
