    Everton 1-2 Lyon

You can only hear the Lyon fans now. As it stands Everton are on one point, Lyon five, Atalanta seven. Would be tough to qualify from here - not impossible.

  4. Postpublished at 80 mins

    Everton 1-2 Lyon

You can tell that Everton are a team low on confidence, that goal has knocked them right out of their stride again. Bertrand Traore leaves Michael Keane with plaited legs and then fires over the top. Keane has not looked like an international centre-half tonight.

  5. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 77 mins

    Everton 1-2 Lyon

Everton want a penalty but the ball clearly hit Marcal bang in the guts. Ronald Koeman is fuming at the fourth official anyway.

And just like that the mood is punctured inside Goodison!

Lyon put together another slick move, sub Maxwel Comet gets past his man easily and puts in a testing low cross to the near post, former Chelsea man Bertrand Traore gets in front of Michael Keane and send a delicious backheel in past Jordan Pickford.

It took a nick off Keane, but all credit to the forward. Wonderful invention.

    Would you believe it!

Should he still be on the pitch? Questionable. But Ashley Williams is on the pitch and he buries a header to level things up!

Great ball in by Gylfi Sigurdsson, top class, undefendable almost, and Williams planted past Anthony Lopes from the edge of the six-yard box.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 68 mins

    Everton 0-1 Lyon

Kevin Mirallas, another man in the midst of that melee, comes off and Sandro Ramirez is on. Yet to score for Everton.

That scuffle has got the crowd onside though and there's more tempo, more urgency to their play.

  11. Elsewhere in Group Epublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 19 October 2017

    Atalanta 2-1 Apollon

Cypriot side Apollon just found the thing that Everton desperately need - an equaliser. But they weren't level for very long...

Andre Schembri hauled the visitors on terms before leaders Atalanta reasserted their grip on the group through Remo Freuler moments later.

The top and bottom of it is this: Everton are still four points behind second place Lyon.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 66 mins

    Everton 0-1 Lyon

Ashley Williams escapes with a booking. He's a lucky, lucky man.

His challenge on Anthony Lopes was needless and it started the whole thing off. That's got the crowd going though.

    Everton 0-1 Lyon

It's all kicking off! A genuine scrum down there.

Ashley Williams pushed the Lyon goalkeeper over, needless, and it escalates from there. A 20-man scrum builds up and the players end up almost in the crowd. Pushing and shoving, a fan is throwing punches into the crowd! Wow.

Ashley Williams's head has totally gone.

  14. Postpublished at 63 mins

    Everton 0-1 Lyon

Right, Everton half half an hour to sort this out. Does a comeback look likely? You never know. But there's no real pattern to their play. Michael Keane bangs a pass out of play, over hit. He's not alone in having an off day.

Everton win a corner though. Gylfi Sigurdsson, time to deliver.

  15. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Everton 0-1 Lyon

Lyon captain Nabil Fekir is coming off. He looks like a fantastic player. On comes Jordan Ferri.

  16. Postpublished at 58 mins

    Everton 0-1 Lyon

Too many cooks? Everton are disjointed, not for the first time this season. They have got Kevin Mirallas, Ademola Lookman, Nikola Vlasic and Gylfi Sigurdsson all trying to play behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin. No real pattern to their shape.

    Everton 0-1 Lyon

But Everton cannot switch off at the back as Myziane Maolida is slipped in on the left side of the area but Morgan Schneiderlin slides in at the last second to block his shot.

Michael Keane had to do better there. He was marking no-one as Maolida was put through.

  20. Postpublished at 51 mins

A free-kick is just over Ashley Williams before Mason Holgate's deflected cross loops behind Kevin Mirallas as Everton keep up the pressure.
