That was good defending from Winston Reid. He used all of his experience to stand Dele Alli up and get a vital foot in.

Good play.

You worry for West Ham every time Tottenham have space in front of them to run into. Sissoko finds Dele Alli, who checks back inside in the box and falls under a challenge from Winston Reid. There's a bit of contact between the players but not of the variety that justifies a penalty being given.

The challenge for West Ham this half is to unsteady Tottenham - whether its make it ugly or slow, they need to make it uncomfortable.

That will change the complexity of this match.

Marko Arnautovic looks to be getting his short tugged again, this time by Davinson Sanchez. He stays strong, though, and wins a throw, sparking a bit of West Ham pressure that ends when Angelo Ogbonna puts the ball out.

Lots of huff and puff from the Hammers, but they're not scratching Spurs' surface.

Toby Alderweireld headed away the corner. His partner Jan Vertonghen is well-placed to nod away the free-kick.

The initial corner is headed clear but mark Noble is tenacious and wins a free-kick on the right byeline....

Arnautovic again the outlet. He gets in behind the Spurs defence but his first touch is heavy and allows Serge Aurier to recover, get back and tackle.

West Ham keep up the pressure, though, and win a corner...

Tottenham in charge, West Ham with it all to do. We are back under way. The second rendition of 'I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles' wasn't quite as enthusiastic as the first, before kick-off.

West Ham had the first shot of this match.

If they don't score the next goal, they are done and dusted here. Gotta have a shot first, of course.

The M3 remains closed in both directions, which is not the news Manchester United fans want to hear. Plenty of them struggling to get to Southampton.

Andy Carroll has a 'mare since his introduction. He's given the ball away twice and both errors have resulted in a goal.

In other news, I stand corrected on the Serge Aurier tackle earlier in the first half. I gave him big licks for a good tackle. However, it was assisted by having a big handful of Marko Arnautovic's shirt. Could easily have been a penalty. Different game then.

Kyle: Brilliant 5 minutes from Spurs and Harry Kane is brilliant but it all stemmed from a terrible pass from Carroll.

Sean Macleod: When you have Carroll and Hernandez in the same team you simply have to play 2 central strikers it's obvious.

Nick Clohessy: Andy Carroll, what are you thinking? Never pass it blind into central midfield like that.

Tottenham look together and they have performed well. They were a little bit shaky at the back but they have worked on that transition and got themselves into key areas.

Those two goals were taken brilliantly.

I am a bit worried about West Ham and the tempo they have dropped to. They need to get together at half-time and work on that high press.

It will be a test of their fitness at this stage of the season.

Marko Arnautovic has looked the most likely man for West Ham. He collects a long ball on the left and tries to drive past a couple of men in the box, but it is the wrong choice. Hernandez was waiting and remains so as Arnautovic has the ball nicked off his toe.

There's been a goal in Glasgow as Rangers host Celtic in the first Old Firm match of the season.
