Nick Clohessy: Does Oxlade-Chamberlain enjoy the bench? At least Wenger was starting him. At Liverpool he's a 'cup player'.

Ash Williams: Lovren can’t even make a simple pass. So if he’s dodgy at tackling and can’t pass what use is he?

Now Joe Gomez plays a wayward pass straight to the feet of Riyad Mahrez. The winger tries to pick out Jamie Vardy with a ball over the top but the Liverpool defence clear.

The Reds are looking a little nervy in possession, but it's very early stages.

There's been plenty of goals from both sides so it should make for an entertaining game. Leicester offer plenty of threat to Liverpool but they need to start better than they did on Tuesday.

Hmm, not a moment that will fill the travelling Liverpool fans with much confidence about their defence as Dejan Lovren, under no pressure, sticks a pass out of play. Cue ironic cheers from the home supporters.

    Leicester v Liverpool (17:30 BST)

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "It sounds like we have no points and are completely the worst team in the league.

"Yes we have problems, that is why we 'only' have eight points and not 15. We can make it more serious than it is or we can take it like it is.

"I know already about all these problems - or 'not problems' - and I've made my decision already how to work with it, but if I talk a lot about it I only create headlines and it doesn't help us."

Liverpool’s defensive struggles are very serious. It keeps costing them. Jurgen Klopp has had enough time to change things.

The naivety, it’s amateurish at time. I don’t think the answer is better players. Yes, you can sign Virgil van Dijk. But if you keep playing the way they are – leaving the defensive line on their own – you’re going to concede goals. I sympathise with their back four, it must be a nightmare at times.

They filled positions they already had covered in the summer, like spending £40m on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. It just baffles me.

Liverpool need a leader on that pitch to say 'let’s protect that back four'. There must have been a Plan B or Plan C. If it was Van Dijk or nothing, that was a mistake. I don’t think they tried hard enough to get defensively sound.

There is a temptation to suggest Liverpool's defence on toast but surely they have learnt their lesson from Tuesday? Jurgen Klopp will make changes from the Carabao Cup defeat but Liverpool must start to learn from their mistakes otherwise their season could be over before it has begun.
