Manchester City had been building up a head of steam and finally they have broken Chelsea down.

Right off the meat from Kevin De Bruyne. A goal from the moment it left his boot.

And this time Pep Guardiola did look happy.

  2. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 0-1 Man Citypublished at 67 mins

    Kevin de Bruyne

It is the goal that has been threatening to arrive for so long and is so richly deserved. Man City have been patient. This is the goal that sums up their dominance over the league champions.

Kevin de Bruyne collects a pass in space. There is a one-two on the edge of the box with Gabriel Jesus. Then it's just a fantastic drive past Thibaut Courtois in the Chelsea goal, on his left foot. The net ripples with glee.

  3. BIG CHANCE!published at 66 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Superb pace from City in the build-up to a zippy move that ends with David Silva found in the box after a cut-back from the right.

The Spaniard has the goal to aim at - Chelsea are horribly exposed - but in comes a fantastic block from Cesar Azpilicueta.

Another Thibaut Courtois launch up the park - this time from hand after he gathers a cross.

The ball just bounces straight through to Ederson.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

John Stones can drift into the Chelsea half. The home side are parked up in two deep lines. Raheem Sterling still finds a bit of space down the left but then he trips his marker - Cesar Azpilicueta. Thibaut Courtois launches the free-kick long. To who, exactly?

  6. GOOD SAVE!published at 62 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Cesc Fabregas finds Eden Hazard with the quick free-kick, there is space to shoot - far too much, City were sleeping - and Ederson parries with a strong fist, a decent stop you expect him to make.

That is finally something for the home fans to warm to.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Eden Hazard - remember him? - harries across the City back line, hoovering up crumbs. But now he picks the ball up in space, central, there is time to turn, he shapes into some territory of his own and is brought back down to earth with a shudder by Fernandinho. The Brazilian is shown a yellow card for the trip.

Javier Githinji: We are highly missing Luiz in this game - his relentless nature, motivation and tenacity. It's evident everywhere.

Louis Omoni: One of Fabregas or Bakayoko should be substituted from this game to give room for more attacking football.

  9. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

City are in round the back again. Raheem Sterling's near post cross is turned away, David Silva's prod across is fended to safety.

Chelsea win it back and for the first time since the restart manage to string more than five passes together. A big round of applause goes up. It's the minor victories at this stage.

  10. CHANCE!published at 55 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Andreas Christensen, like a juggernaut turning on ice, somehow manages to get back and scramble the ball behind with Leroy Sane charging in on goal behind him.

From the corner, Raheem Sterling dreams big but smashes his volley over the bar.

Chelsea are yet to find a response to any of this, and from the silence, it sounds like the home fans know it.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Chelsea have been pegged right back here. City are looking to twist around them into a telling grip.

Gabriel Jesus bounces off Andreas Christensen's shoulder in the box - shouts of a penalty from the away fans. Perhaps he made too much of it.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

David Silva's corner finds Gabriel Jesus in loads of space at the back post but the Brazilian cannot quite connect. Was he held back? Didn't seem so, but you would have expected him to reach it strongly. Instead it just zipped meekly off his haircut.

  13. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

City are clearly targeting Antonio Rudiger - Gabriel Jesus is straight on him as the defender collects the ball - and Rudiger only just manages to fire back to his keeper.

City win it back again, and now Rudiger has to come across and poke behind with the ball at Gabriel Jesus' tricky feet in the box.

Excellent start to the half from the away side.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Antonio Rudiger - twice he looked shaky at the back with the ball at his feet before the break - comes across to sweep the ball out of Leroy Sane's grasp on the left wing as Chelsea respond to giving the ball away straight from the restart.

And we are back under way! No changes at half-time to mention.

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Antonio Conte moves a hand to his eyes and squeezes the fatigue and frustration out with his fingers as he emerges from the tunnel. Pep Guardiola is deep in dialogue, his palm around the back of Fernandinho's neck.

    HT: Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Just a matter of time for Manchester City? They've unquestionably been the better side, and they would have had the goal to prove it if Raheem Sterling had found a maroon shirt at the end of that lightning-quick counter.

    HT: Chelsea 0-0 Man City

Flat is how Antonio Conte's team might be describing that first-half showing right now. It's a good word for it. Strangely flat. After Wednesday's Champions League win at Atletico Madrid you'd assume energy would be high. Or has this match come too soon?

Daphne De Leener: Don't understand why Conte wouldn't bring on Batshuayi.

Ahnaf Tahmed Faiz: Never thought I'd say this in my lifetime, but Fabian Delph has been virtually everywhere for Man City.

Johnny Magrinho: Kante is having an absolute mare today! He's hindered Chelsea going forward & been far from the defensive rock he usually is.

  20. Stalemate at Stamford Bridgepublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Chelsea 0-0 Man City

    Phil McNulty

All square at half-time - but it's Manchester City who look the more dangerous with their speed on the counter-attack.

Chelsea have also suffered the blow of losing striker Alvaro Morata but this is a resilient and streetwise side. Antonio Conte's men are still right in this.
