City's striker situation is a bit of a different story. Top scorer Sergio Aguero is expected to miss between two and four weeks after breaking his rib in a car crash in Amsterdam on Thursday night.

The Argentine was apparently saved by his seat-belt as the taxi he was riding in crashed into a pole.

How will City perform without him?

This is becoming a regular sight. A hat-trick in the Potteries and the leveller in Madrid took Morata's tally to seven goals from his first eight games in a Chelsea shirt. Who remembers that missed penalty at Wembley now?

Manchester United have moved three clear at the top with victory at home to Crystal Palace this afternoon.

Chelsea trail City by three points - they are still paying for that opening-day home defeat by Burnley.

But a 4-0 win in Stoke and Wednesday's 2-1 victory at Atletico Madrid are sure signs a momentum is gathering. And what about that Alvaro Morata?

Chelsea beat Tottenham. Liverpool thrashed Arsenal. Man City thrashed Liverpool. Arsenal held Chelsea. Huddersfield have fallen away - for now.

We have had some big games already, but by early Autumn these top of the top flight encounters begin to feel ever more tightly bound in title-deciding trends.

It's a mouth-watering match in store - Antonio Conte, Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata up against Pep Guardiola, Kevin de Bruyne... but, of course, no Sergio Aguero...
