This is an intriguing tussle. The left side seems to be where Manchester City are most focused as Fabian Delph and Leroy Sane link regularly. But Burnley are happy to throw a few men forward when break opportunities arise and Kyle Walker times a tackle superbly to end an attack in the middle of the pitch.

    Manchester City 0-0 Burnley

It has taken 23 minutes for Manchester City to wriggle room in the Burnley area and they should be ahead. It's neat stuff from Leroy Sane and David Silva. Sane gets into the area and takes his man on - he could go down but stays on his feet - before cutting the ball back to eight yards where Bernardo Silva only stings the hands of Nick Pope.

    A real chance.

Ederson was brave in that last key moment - not for the first time this season.

It will prove the last action of the match for the man who was in there mixing it with Ederson - Chris Wood. He is being forced off, Ashley Barnes will come on.

A sight of goal for Burnley and a good one.

A long kick from the keeper up field sees Chris Wood bundle his way through. He power-slammed Kyle Walker and barged through another challenge but the ball was getting away from him as he burst into the area allowing Ederson to rush out and bravely dive at his feet.

Pep Guardiola may be a tad alarmed at how his defence was nudged around a little easily there.

A long ball from Kyle Walker gets Kevin de Bruyne chasing and he beats Burnley keeper Nick Pope to the ball with his touch. Pope is out of his goal but De Bruyne is on the dead-ball line and running out of room, meaning he can only win a corner. His touch to pluck the ball out of the air was fantastic.

"Come on City, come on City," comes a brief chant.

Leroy Sane strides purposefully forward. He brings Fabian Delph into play.... cross... headed away.

Burnley scramble clear and try to forge their own attack but a reverse pass which looks to release Chris Wood has too much pace on it.

Burnley have set up as you might expect - two banks of four in their own half, with only Jeff Hendrick and Chris Wood advancing to harass City's defenders when they tried to bring the ball forward.

In his predictions this week, Mark Lawrenson spoke about how well organised the Clarets are, saying: "You can close your eyes when you watching Sean Dyche’s side and know that, when you open them, all of his players will be in position."

That’s been the case so far - there is no way through for City at present, and the visiting fans are making a lot of noise to urge their side to keep it that way.

Speaking of De Bruyne, did you catch this video of the guy who makes the Belgium international's food?

It's well worth a watch and it's safe to say there's not a mention of pies or chips in there. Apparently footballers need to eat healthily.

Kevin De Bruyne could well be sick of the sight of Jack Cork in an hour or so. He's practically stood on his laces. De Bruyne still wriggles space to feed Bernardo Silva out wide but his cross is easily blocked.

Fabian Delph is seeing some ball at left-back. In truth all of the home defence is under little pressure in possession as Burnley sit off them. Stephen Ward does well under pressure to deal with a long diagonal ball and clear briefly for Burnley. The ball eventually breaks to Kevin De Bruyne but his shot is tame and Nick Pope can read a book before falling on it.

James Tarkowski slides in on Leroy Sane near the touchline to concede a throw. The defender darts back into position. Kyle Walker tries a cross from the right which hits the first man but Manchester City get it back. Burnley look very aware of their positional discipline and again they force City to cross, allowing Nick Pope to catch.

Burnley are unchanged from last weekend and early on Chris Wood is the furthest man forward as his fellow players make themselves hard to play against.

"And now the starting XI for Manchester City," screams the matchday announcer at the Etihad. Cue roars, none more so than for Kevin De Bruyne's name.

On the bench, Pep Guardiola looks quite street today. He's wearing a relatively short jacket. With the hood flicked back he looks ready for a good student night out somehwere.

Hey Jude rings around the stadium, that Scouse anthem embraced by Manchester.

Burnley get in some shooting practice before kick-off - Mee and Tarkowski don't have to block these shots, for a change...

There are no statistics that show bravery, but it is clearly a characteristic that Burnley boss Sean Dyche rates highly in his players, who have blocked more shots than any of the 98 teams in the top divisions of Europe's big five leagues - and do that to 40% of the ones they face away from home.

"One of his pet hates is if you turn your back on the ball," explained Clarets defender Ben Mee to this week's Premier League Show. "You see a lot of goals go in off people who do that, and the gaffer expects you to take the pain."

Mee and his centre-half partner James Tarkowski have made more of those blocks than anyone else and Tarkowski explained how their manager eggs them on: "When the ball hits you in the face, he is screaming at you, saying 'don’t rub it' - so, even if you have got a big red mark and it is killing you, you have got to just stand there."

You can watch Gabby Logan's interview with Mee and Tarkowski on iPlayer, here.

  20. How are Burnley so good?published at 14:51 British Summer Time 21 October 2017

Manchester City v Burnley (15:00 BST)

    BBC Sport

Burnley's success has been built on some stunning results on the road, where they remain unbeaten after visits to Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton that have seen them pick up eight points so far - one more than they managed in the whole of the 2016-17 campaign.

Yet Sean Dyche's side have faced more shots (107) in those four away matches than any other top-division team in Europe's big five leagues, and they have managed only 33 themselves - ranking them 85th out of the 98 teams in the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.
