Most of the players are now jogging off the pitch into the warmth of the tunnel where a glut of mascots wait and ask for high-fives.

City's players go through some final short sprints though and will finish their warm-up last it seems.

They have hit 36 goals in their last 10 outings - all wins - and conceded just five.

Perhaps those numbers underline just how good they look right now.

Ilkay Gundogan, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and others only make the bench today. In all seriousness, can anyone stop them this season?

No wonder there are smiles aplenty at the Etihad....

  2. 'Not so easy for City'published at 14:45 British Summer Time 21 October 2017

    John Motson
Match of the Day commentator at Etihad Stadium

"It's been a great week for City with the 7-2 win over Stoke and then the Champions League victory over Napoli.

"Pep Guardiola has certainly got them on the right track in more than one competition.

"The focus has been on their freescoring start but I am not sure whether they'll have it quite as easy this weekend.

"Sean Dyche's side have already won at Chelsea and Everton in this campaign and I think City need to be alert to Burnley's stout defence - they have only conceded four goals in their last seven league matches."

Breaking news.... John Motson has shed his sheepskin coat.

I know, I know, the world is changing and I don't like it either.

Stand down though, he's still going to wear his traditional sheepskin number, it's just that Manchester City have presented him with a blue one given this is the last time he will commentate at this ground for Match of the Day.

I can tell you that after posing for photographs, Motty got his beige number back on. Still, he'll have options for the coming winter months now. A sheepskin coat rotation system could be deployed.

  4. Will it be raining goals at the Etihad again?published at 14:40 British Summer Time 21 October 2017

It’s a grey afternoon in Manchester, and it has already started drizzling at the Etihad Stadium, with more rain expected later. Lots of it.

Goals have been forecasted too - City, who are chasing a club-record 11th straight win, have scored 17 goals in their three previous home Premier League games, and none of the 12 teams they have played this season have stopped them from finding the net.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola makes just two changes to his side from the midweek win over Napoli. In come Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva to replace Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling.

Jesus is a lucky charm remember, City have not yet lost a game in which he has featured since making his debut last season. I'd be picking him every week.

Manchester City: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Aguero, De Bruyne, Delph, Sane, Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Fernandinho, Otamendi.

Sean Dyche sticks with the side which drew with West Ham. Nick Pope could be busy today, good job he has the best save percentage in the league then maybe?

Burnley: Pope, Lowton, Cork, Tarkowski, Mee, Wood, Brady, Hendrick, Defour, Ward, Arfield.

This is where you need to be for team news, goals, stats and more if you're intent on following Manchester City's pursuit of records and Burnley's chase for a shock over the next couple of hours.

It could be a day for celebration at the Etihad as Pep Guardiola's side can equal a club record of 11 consecutive wins in all competitions. If that's not enough, Sergio Aguero is one goal away from equalling the club's all-time goalscoring record.

    Burnley to spoil a party?

Right then you cheeky bunch. It's a Manchester City home game so I've got my abacus at the ready.

I think they'll score at least six but Burnley are so good these days they may well just go and match Pep's boys.

Welcome one and all. Now go dig out that abacus.
