    Chelsea 1-0 Watford

I wouldn't say Chelsea are anywhere near their fluent best, but they are looking much better than last weekend. The Blues are asking questions of the visitors, who have a line of red shirts on the edge of their box. Tiemoue Bakayoko sees a shot cannon back of the legs of a defender and Watford clear with Richarlison leading the chase...

Referee Jon Moss digs into his pocket for his pencil and notepad, taking the names of two Watford players. Jose Holebas has too much to say for himself, while Adrian Mariappa cleans out Alvaro Morata from behind. No arguments there.

Ash Williams: How can John Moss make a decision that the linesman is 3 times closer to? His officiating is always questionable.

Dan Graham: Can you just turn up and become a premier league referee?! Seems like it.

Donald: What a stunner from Pedro. Positive start from Chelsea.

Francis Edwards: All that money pumped into football and TV resources still not used to find the odd missed decision, football is a shambles.

  4. 'Hazard and Morata link-up well'published at 17 mins

That was absolutely fantastic play by Eden Hazard in midfield. He took out two or three players then.

His link-up play with Alvaro Morata has been good so far.

    Chelsea 1-0 Watford

What an open game we have! Watford go up one end through Richarlison, Gary Cahill sliding in to block his thunderous shot.

Then Chelsea look to exploit the space left behind by the Hornets defence. Alvaro Morata picks out Cesc Fabregas in a postcode of his own, the ex-Barcelona midfielder only having Heurelho Gomes to beat.

Fabregas dinks, Gomes stands, Watford survive.

It definitely wasn't a corner Pat. No wonder the travelling Watford fans are singing 'you don't know what you're doing' to the officials. Chelsea, on the other hand, don't care.

Now, can the Blues keep a lead today?

That was a fantastic goal. I am pretty convinced it shouldn't have been a corner but Watford turned off.

Chelsea played it short and it was a fabulous strike by Pedro. It's a routine that has been used again and again.

It was not a corner for me.

    Pedro

    Oh. My. Word.

Watford's bright start means nothing after a moment of quality from Pedro. This is not even from the top drawer - it is from the special cupboard.

A short corner is pulled back to Pedro who is given space and does not need asking twice to shoot. He cracks one first time, arcing a curling right-foot shot into the top left-hand corner. Stunning.

But should it have been a corner? Nope. It came off Eden Hazard.

However... Watford venture upfield again and Roberto Pereya thinks he should have a free-kick on the edge of the box. Ref Jon Moss shakes his head. Chelsea back on the attack...

    Chelsea 0-0 Watford

Chelsea have started to find their groove now, Cesc Fabregas is seeing more of the ball as the home side are enjoying more position.

    Chelsea 0-0 Watford

Antonio Conte is already on the touchline, barking out orders as his mop-top is whipped around by the wind.

Chelsea go long towards the right flank, Cesar Azpilicueta chasing after it like with more enthusiasm than a playful Spaniel.

Jose Holebas is forced to concede a corner, Alvaro Morata stretches to reach a clipped cross, but his size 10s are not long enough to get a meaningful touch.

Watford have started very well. They are passing it much more comfortably than Chelsea at the moment.

There is no lack of belief. They are on the front foot and they are holding the ball better.

    Chelsea 0-0 Watford

Watford look to have more swagger than Liam Gallagher. As you were for the Hornets who are knocking the ball confidently as they go on the front foot. Roberto Pereyra plays a neat one-two with Troy Deeney, crossing into the box which Chelsea clear for a corner. The Blues defence deals with that set-piece and look to go forward themselves...

  14. 'Morata looks fit'published at 3 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 Watford

    Pat Nevin

Alvaro Morata was offside and he was in that position for three or four seconds beforehand which is unusual for him.

He times his runs very well usually. He looks fit again though.

Bright and breezy at the Bridge. And I'm not talking about the weather. Chelsea fashion their first half chance, Cesar Azpilicueta swinging in a cross from the right towards Alvaro Morata, Hornets defender Christian Kabasele diving in front of the Spaniard to boot clear. Oh, Morata was offside anyway.

Richarlison, in true Brazilian style, loves running with the ball at his feet. The Watford attacker goes direct inside the first minute, Antonio Rudiger timing a sliding challenge to perfection in the Blues box.
