Chelsea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte: "The performance was a good performance because to concede the equaliser at the end of the first and then go down in first part of the second half, our confidence in that moment was low.

"But my players showed me that we have the attitude to fight and change the situation and get a different result. It was very important.

"It is not simple because we are facing difficult situations but the spirit and commitment is right. I'm satisfied for the performance."

Watford

Watford manager Marco Silva, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is a really unfair result. It didn't reflect the match and what we saw on the pitch.

"Our team came here and controlled most of the match. We didn't create many chances in the first half, it is true, but we controlled the game and Chelsea started to play on the counter attack.

"We played our game and in the second half for 40 minutes there was one team playing on the pitch. After 2-1 we had clear chances to finish the match.

"I'm proud of how we played, but of course I'm really frustrated. It showed our way and we need to continue in this way."

Chelsea's two-goal hero Michy Batshuayi on coming off the bench to rescue Chelsea: "Starting on the bench is a difficult moment for me but I stay focused every day to work hard and train hard. Today I did my job and scored two goals.

"I'm very happy to take the three points in a difficult moment for the team."

Cesar Azpilicueta has been directly involved in more Premier League goals than any other defender this season. That's five - one goal and four assists.

Chelsea scorer Cesar Azpilicueta, speaking to Sky Sports: "We left it very late and we all had to dig in until the last minute - we showed our spirit. It wasn't our best win but it was important to get back to winning ways.

"We started really well and had chances to score a second but then conceded with the last kick of the first half. The confidence is a bit low and that didn't help us. But we didn't give up and it was a big win for us.

"We went three games without winning and we have had difficult games so it was important to get back in the Premier League to winning ways.

"We know it is a long season and we will have ups and downs, we have had a difficult period and this is the first step."

Let's not lose sight of the fact that's a mad score line. Chelsea could have been two or three down. They've won, but there's still problems there.

Antonio Conte greets the final whistle with the sort of manic grin that we saw so often last season. He's relieved, his players are relieved, almost all of Stamford Bridge is relieved.

Chelsea avoid a third straight Premier League defeat, but that only tells half the story and masks some of the issues still facing the reigning champions. Namely, their defensive frailty.

Chelsea could not afford to lose. Somehow they didn't.

The Blues come back from behind to win for the first time this season, moving them up above their opponents and into fourth place.

Chelsea are trying to run down the clock. Not only the players, but also the fans. Some clown nicks the ball as Heurelho Gomes tries to retrieve it.

I don't think Watford have got one last push left in them. The glum faces in the stand are being matched by those in red shirts on the pitch.

Chelsea know what they have to do now: keep the ball and don't do anything daft.

Watford still have time to get something that, let's be honest, they deserve. We are going to see FIVE minutes of added time...
