United have possibly had the better chances but Chelsea have been the better team, particularly in the past 20 minutes. Conte has picked the right team tonight, with the correct balance in midfield and his side have responded to the defeat in Roma really well.

It's been a breathtaking game but the referee has been magnificent to keep it flowing. United have gone for it and so too have Chelsea. A wonderful game - the best between the top six so far this season.

Josh Hammond: Wenger's comments about referees are going to get him in trouble. the thing is he is 100% right. the refs are getting worse.

Gamal: For once I totally agree with Arsene. Refereeing in this country is abject at best and has been for years now

    Manchester City 3-1 Arsenal

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to MOTD: "I am so happy with our victory, we deserved it. After a game at Napoli it was so, so tough but we showed character in the bad moments. I am very pleased.

"The only regret is that the chances in the first half we didn't make the right pass. My wish is that the players come back healthy from the international break."

  5. 'The last two months are amazing'published at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2017

    Manchester City 3-1 Arsenal

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: "After a Champions League match it's always complicated. Well done, well deserved, we played better. We had clear chances in the first half.

"We made a good high press, they couldn't play long balls to Alexis. We didn't finish the counter-attacks, that was a big problem.

"The third goal helped us to win the game. I didn't expect Coquelin to play in the back, they can play many systems.

"[Do you want to talk about the penalty decision and the offside?] No, we won. We won in the best way. Sometimes it's like this, I was told it was offside and I don't want to win like this but sometimes Arsenal beat Burnley with a handball in the 96th minute.

"We cannot deny the last two months are amazing. We won all of the games. It's so, so difficult. In the recent past Barcelona and Bayern Munich won titles and we haven't."

  6. 'The decisions were just wrong'published at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2017

    Manchester City 3-1 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "It was an intense game of quality on both sides. We did create plenty of dangerous situations and chances but overall, the referee made the decisions again with a soft penalty and offside goal. It was unacceptable what happened. This happened to us last year with two offside goals. Today, the third goal killed the game. Of course, City are a top team and that made it even more difficult for us.

"The referees don't work enough, the level drops every season.

"I think we played well against a team who play quickly and well on the counter attack. In the first half, we were perhaps too deep and in the second half we were more in the game. At 2-1, it looked like we could make it back to 2-2.

"City are obviously a good side but that's up to other people to talk about how good they are."

  7. 'Sterling dives well'published at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2017

    'Manchester City 3-1 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Here's Arsene Wenger to MOTD: "I believe it was no penalty. We know that Raheem Sterling dives well, he does that very well. And the third goal was offside. I am very upset because at 2-1 we were in the game.

"The third goal was the killer and it is by coincidence that mistakes always go for the home team, as we know.

"It is unfortunate that the game finished the way it finished. I am disappointed. You can accept if it City win in a normal way, they are a good side but this is unacceptable. Last season we lost two offside goals and it has happened again.

"City will be hard to stop."

It surprised me that Conte questioned the desire and motivation of his team after the loss at Roma in midweek but they have certainly responded to his hard words so far. Manchester United though, with their excellent defensive record, are still standing strong.

Inderan: If Man Utd played Martial, Rashford and Lukaku in a forward three, removing Mkhitaryan (who lets face it has been woeful these past four games), I fancy they could win this. There is so much Mourinho-function, it seems there’s fear for flair!

Gareth: Jones, Smalling and Mkhitaryan have been woeful all season and yet playing regularly. How we are second is beyond me.
