    Chelsea 0-0 Swansea

Willian whips in a wide free-kick from deep. It curls round everyone - maybe Marcos Alonso got a bit of his hair onto it while trying to head the ball - and goes just wide of Lukasz Fabianski's post. The Brazilian definitely wasn't shooting, mind.

  2. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2017

    Chelsea 0-0 Swansea

A stronger penalty appeal from Chelsea as Mike van der Hoorn appears to hold Alvaro Morata around the neck in the box. Some Blues players shout for a penalty, but it doesn't arrive. It could have been given though.

Then Davide Zappacosta hurts himself while running into the hoardings around the pitch.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Burnley

Burnley starting well again, they tend to every time I see them. They work the ball into the area but it's cleared and then Joshua King shows his pace for the Cherries. He carries it on, Jordon Ibe fires a cross/shot into the middle and it's well held by Nick Pope.

Wilfried Bony - captaining Swansea - tonight is looking a bit limpy maybe. He's been rubbing his leg. He's had the ball a couple of times in the opening few minutes.

It's been a fairly even start - 50-50 on possession.

  5. A long way to come on a freezing November night...published at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2017

Manchester City v Southampton (20:00 GMT)

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

It has been a long old schlep for Southampton fans to make it to Manchester tonight, so the sight of the bright lights of the Etihad - which is 226 miles away from St Mary’s Stadium - will be a welcome one for them.

Their record here is not exactly going to provide much warmth on a freezing evening, however, even if there is a giant bauble waiting for them outside the ground to provide some Christmas spirit.

After beating City in the last ever match to be played at Maine Road, in May 2003, Saints won on their first visit to the Etihad in April 2004, but have picked up only one point from their last seven trips here - a 1-1 draw last season.

At least Saints fans had some company if they drove here, though. The longest trip for any team in this set of midweek games is the 288 miles that Bournemouth have travelled to get to Burnley, along many of the same roads - the A34, M40 and M6.

The two south coast sides - who are just 23 miles apart - meet at the Cherries’ Vitality Stadium on Saturday. Is it just me, or would it have made a lot more sense if they had played that game tonight instead?

  6. Postpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2017

    Arsenal 1-0 Huddersfield

It could be a long night for Huddersfield. They have failed to score in six consecutive away matches in all competitions before tonight and already trail, having made wholesale changes too. Have they written tonight off?

  7. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2017

    Bournemouth 0-0 Burnley

Burnley go closest to breaking the deadlock on the south coast!

Bournemouth had plenty of chances to clear three successive Burnley corners, but can't and the final set-piece is worked to the far post where Ben Mee is lurking.

The defender nods back across goal, and Chris Wood heads on to the top of the crossbar from six yards out.

Good chance for the New Zealander.

Rhys, Leeds: Allardyce and Pardew getting these positions does highlight that Allardyce’s past comments are pretty accurate. The top 4-6 teams usually go for an international name as opposed to a British manager. It would be nice to see what British managers could do with one of those teams but they seem to be stuck swapping jobs with each other in their own respective leagues.

The World Darts number one Michael van Gerwen is rumoured to be here at Stoke tonight. He is friends with Stoke’s Dutch contingent Erik Pieters and Bruno Martins Indi.

Clinical stuff! A cracking goal from the Arsenal as they take a very early lead. Alexandre Lacazette starts the move off before finding Granit Xhaka, he plays it forwards and Aaron Ramsey helps the ball around the corner with a delicious backheel flick.

It's perfectly into the path of Lacazette and he slots home confidently with his left foot from 15 yards.

  12. Will City stay unbeaten - and should Celtic be worried?published at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2017

I don’t think any of the Manchester City fans currently sitting shivering in front of me have quite forgotten what it feels like to lose a game, but it has been a while...

It is 219 days since Pep Guardiola's side last tasted defeat, after extra-time of their FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal, and a further 19 days since they lost in 90 minutes, against Chelsea in the Premier League on 5 April.

In all competitions, it is 26 games since they lost to the Gunners at Wembley, so City are already on the sixth-longest run in English football history.

LONGEST UNBEATEN RUN - ENGLAND (ALL COMPS)

    • 1. Nottingham Forest (1978) - 40
    • 2. Man Utd (1998-99) - 33
    • =3. Preston (1888-89), Everton (1984-85), Arsenal (2007) - 28
    • 6. Man City (2017) - 26*

They have got a bit of work to do to overhaul Celtic, who hold the European record of 62 games (again, that is in all comps) without a defeat between 1915-1917.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are currently on a 65-game unbeaten streak domestically, but if anyone remembers that run from 100 years ago, then please get in touch...

BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park

Everton manager-elect Sam Allardyce received a muted reception from a small group of fans as he got out of a car at Goodison Park ahead of his confirmation as Ronald Koeman's successor.

Fair to say Allardyce's appointment has sparked a mixed reaction here tonight. He will have to win over doubters but he is no stranger to that in his career.

I think Sam Allardyce's appointment at Everton is something that had to happen. I'm not sure what happened in the first round of talks for him to say 'I'm out', but they’ve had to go back to Sam because they need to get out of trouble and that's exactly what he does.

What are the chances of Gary Cahill lifting that trophy again this season? You have to say at the moment it looks very unlikely though Cahill has said that he believes they can still retain it.

The facts are that Chelsea have taken 13 points from the last 15 but are still 11 points behind Man City so they have to keep winning just to stay anywhere near them. The next month could be pivotal, after tonight their next seven games are against teams 10th or below. They have to win them all.

While Swansea just need to win, the last time that happened here at the Brigde was in 1925. It would be a major surprise if they repeated that tonight.
