  1. 'Our line-up surprised everybody'published at 17:08 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2017

    Brighton 1-5 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to Sky Sports: "Did I enjoy it? Not really, not all the time. At the beginning we needed to be patient with Brighton's style. We needed to get used to it.

"We scored two fantastic goals. It was good to watch. We scored a third which is a good idea in a game like this. A few weeks ago we were lucky with refereeing decisions and we paid it back tonight. Brighton's goal made it a little bit more exciting but in the end we closed the game in a nice way.

On his squad changes: "We had no idea we were going to have to line up like this until yesterday's meeting and I'm pleased for the boys. They were able to adapt.

"Our line up surprised everybody. It's a good moment that we can do things like this. They adapted and did the job.

"We need to adapt with plenty of different systems. That's how it should be."

He admits to the home side being "frustrated" in the first half but feels they can take plenty into next week's Merseyside derby.

"We have a new manager and we are winning games so we have to take confidence into the next games and keep building on the performances and results," he says.

Everton are moving into the top half for the first time since late August and there are a number of the clubs former stars here to see it.

FA cup winners like Andy Hinchcliffe and Graham Stuart will have enjoyed this, David Unsworth was here too.

They’ve played good football in patches, Sam Allardyce certainly deserving today of the terrific reception he received pre match.

There are a lot of empty seats around the Hawthorns as West Brom surely make their last attack.

James McClean's ball from the right is rubbish, though, and it's wasted. Can Allan Nyom rescue it? Nope, his cross is just as poor.
