    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Wilshere feeds Ozil, but yet again an attempted through ball from the German is cut out.

Saints clear it up to Austin, who does really well to win a foul off Bellerin.

Arsene Wenger, brow furrowed, raises his hands in frustration.

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Virgil Van Dijk is clattered but limps to his feet to take the free-kick, only to smash it miles away from a fellow Saint and out for a goal-kick.

Into the last 15 minutes - is there any way back for Arsenal?

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 74 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Southampton make their first change of the game as Nathan Redmond comes off for Sofiane Boufal.

Redmond didn't do as much attacking as Pep Guardiola would like but a solid display from the English youngster.

Dan: Klopp doing what he said he would do and rests big players. Last season that would've been a problem, have got full faith in the squad now, bench looking very tasty indeed. Still be too much for Everton to cope with today.

Jack Lovatt: Klopp has underestimated Everton here! Hope he proves me wrong but seems a bizarre and arrogant team selection!

Kevin Smith: Coutinho and Firmino on the bench for Liverpool??!! Interesting...slightly disrespectful to Everton as presumably Klopp thinks he can win without them?

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 72 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Olivier Giroud is on for Alexandre Lacazette, who has been superbly marked out of the game by the Saints defence on a thoroughly frustrating day for Arsenal's record signing.

And Wilshere's first real involvement is a loose pass that Van Dijk clears down field.

Decent covering work from the Arsenal defence and Petr Cech thwarts Saints.

Looks like Olivier Giroud is also about to enter the fray.

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Jack Wilshere is being readied on the bench as Arsenal win another corner.

It's a high one from Mesut Ozil but it's easily cleared before Nacho Monreal picks it up and send a left-footed effort well wide.

Southampton have weathered a bit of a storm after being pushed back by Arsenal at the start of the second-half.

It was a terrific strike by Romeu. I think Cech thought he had it covered but it hit the bar and went over.

Saints target Koscielny down their left once again but this time the Frenchman is aware enough to clip the ball off Austin's toes.

  12. CLOSE!published at 66 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

A minute to forget for Laurent Koscielny.

The Arsenal centre-back sells Danny Welbeck short twice and allows Ryan Bertrand to nip in and surge forward.

The Saints wing-back takes advantage of more sloppy defending from Koscielny, desperately trying to make amends, and gets goal side but pokes his effort wide.

Arsene Wenger is going for it - Danny Welbeck on for Per Mertesacker.

From another replay of that Romeu effort it looks like Cech thought it was going over. Certainly wasn't, Petr, but Arsenal get away with it.

There's plenty of menace left in the Saints.

After a patient spell down the left, they work it across to Oriol Romeu in space about 25 yards out.

The Spaniard cracks a thundering strike that had Petr Cech beaten but thwacks off the crossbar and away.

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

    Chris Sutton

From Arsenal's point of view, they must be wishing they'd started the first-half as they have this second-half. They've pushed Southampton back and shown real intensity since the break.

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Arsenal can't fashion a chance from the corner, the ball eventually falling to Granit Xhaka, but his drive is easily dealt with.

Lovely shot of Saints manager Mauricio Pellegrino taking down a ball in his technical area with a feathery touch.
