    Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

Bobby Madley duly blows his whistle after Saints clear it down field.

A stirring effort by the hosts, but their defensive concentration just lapsed enough for Olivier Giroud to rescue a point for an uninspiring Arsenal.

    Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

Chance for Aaron Ramsey, who almost catches out Fraser Forster with a deft backheel after the ball is played in from the left.

Maybe the injured Ramsey should have left it for Olivier Giroud behind him. A decent effort but Forster gathers easily enough in the end and that should be that.

James Ward-Prowse swings the corner wickedly but Petr Cech does enough to punch it clear, taking out Virgil van Dijk in the process.

  4. Postpublished at 90+2 mins

Alexis Sanchez loses the ball and reacts towards Maya Yoshida, who makes nothing of it and Saints surge up the other end.

Good scrambling by the Arsenal defence to get back and divert it out for a corner.

Saints now trying to pin Arsenal back - helped out by a clearly injured Aaron Ramsey who is unable to help the visitors in attack and defence.

Henry: And there it is...Arsenal tie it. Saints rue the missed chances. There were hundreds of them.

Abdul: That's what we need a header not passing.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 90 mins

    Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

Jack Wilshere clatters Manolo Gabbiadini and is the latest player to get shown a yellow card.

  8. goal

GOAL - Southampton 1-1 Arsenalpublished at 88 mins

    Olivier Giroud

Out of nowhere. Olivier Giroud has barely featured since coming on but the Frenchman has grabbed the equaliser for Arsenal.

Alexis Sanchez finds some room on the left and stands up the cross, with Giroud rising up above his marker to flick it past Fraser Forster's dive and into the bottom corner.

That goal draws Giroud level with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the most goals by a substitute in Premier League history.

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Wilshere, Ramsey and Welbeck try to link up and get something going, the latter falling under a challenge but no free-kick.

Ramsey looks to be limping a bit but Arsenal have already used all three subs.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 85 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Manolo Gabbiadini is on for Charlie Austin, who's been a menace today after that superb early goal.

Will it prove to be the difference? Arsenal have just five minutes plus stoppage time to level.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 83 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

That's a forceful challenge from Oriol Romeu and draws a yellow card.

More importantly, it's a free-kick, very central and just outside the area for Arsenal.

Sanchez and Ozil stand over it...

  14. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Oh no. Saints clear another Arsenal attack and suddenly it's two-on-two, with Sofiane Boufal surging through the middle.

But he delays the pass to Charlie Austin and the Saints striker is caught offside. Just. Relief for Arsenal, anguish for the Saints bench.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 82 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Jack Stephens, who's had a terrific game, now goes into the book for time wasting at a throw-in.

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Arsenal have gone for a change of shape, with Mertesacker off they've gone to a back four.

And with the introduction of Giroud, they've more of a physical presence up front.

  17. Postpublished at 80 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

Approaching the final 10 minutes at St Mary's. Arsenal win another corner but it's poor from Ozil and doesn't beat the first man.

Wilshere gets hold of it but his ball back in is easily gathered by Forster. Uninspiring from the visitors and more stoic defence from Saints.

    Picture of Mo Salah celebrating

Has Big Sam got a plan to stop the Premier League’s top-scorer?

The Liverpool line-up might not be what he expected though - we think Salah could play alongside Dominic Solanke in a front two, with Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino both on the bench.

Everton’s last win at Anfield was in September 1999 so if they win here today they’re going to party like it’s.....you know the rest.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 78 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Arsenal

The last thing Arsenal need is a fresh Sofiane Boufal exploiting the spaces in behind as the visitors go in search of an equaliser.

Hector Bellerin resorts to dragging Boufal down and is duly the first player booked.

The resulting free-kick catches out the Arsenal defence but Virgil van Dijk can't get a head on it despite being free in behind.

  20. 'Solanke is good enough'published at 13:34 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Liverpool v Everton (14:15 GMT)

    Liverpool

Here's some reaction from Jurgen Klopp after his rather strange team selection for the Merseyside derby.

"{Dominic Solanke] He's good enough. There are a lot of English players on the pitch today so they know about the importance of the derby, for sure.

"Dom is a footballer from head to toe, he is all around a really proper professional. I'm happy for him that he can [have this chance].

"It's a part of the season where you have to make the changes when you can make the changes.

"I think all the Champions League sides, or Europa League sides, made a lot of changes [in midweek].

"Their games, maybe they were not as important as ours was, we had to go through a very intense game."
