    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, speaking to MOTD: "It was a difficult game and I felt that we paid a heavy price for a slow start. We kept going. It was a game of high intensity. In the second half it was all us but they defended well. We played with many strikers. Overall, I think the spirit was great. We were relentless to the end.

"Aaron Ramsey couldn't play at the end. He had a hamstring problem.

"I consider Olivier Giroud as a regular player. We have to be grateful that he is part of a great team and one who can come on and make a difference with the right attitude and ability. He is a talent."

On Jack Wilshere: "He is back to good shape and form. It is down to him to reproduce quality performances."

Everton haven't got a squad like Liverpool. The Lukaku money was not spent well.

Players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the other kids are still learning their trade.

There's no point playing Niasse if he's got no service. It doesn't matter who Liverpool play, they will have chances.

Why oh why does Wenger persist with playing Giroud from the bench? Surely him and Lacazette could do some damage together!!!

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, speaking to BT Sport:"I always try to bring something for the team when I come on. Today we missed players in the box so I tried to bring it. It was a good cross. I tried to be at the right place at the right time. Since the beginning of the second half we were pushing. It is difficult to play here.

"The boss said we want to start and finish strong. At the beginning we were caught. Charlie did well. Fortunately for us we could come back and get a point."

A Liverpool win would be that bit sweeter when Arsenal, Chelsea and at least one Manchester club will have dropped points this weekend.

Snow is just starting to fall at our base just down the road from Old Trafford but it's very light at this stage. No such worries at Anfield from what I can see, where some giant flags and banners are being unfurled across the crowd.

Who makes those and what happens at the end of each game?

Almost time to go in the first massive derby of the day.

    Southampton

Southampton striker Charlie Austin, speaking to BT Sport: "Second half, we can’t really play like that. We camped in from minute one. You give Arsenal one chance and they score. We have a point but should have had three.

"We get the second goal and it is all over. One goal lead in the Premier League is not enough.

"I am delighted to get a run of games. I am a goalscorer and I love scoring goals."

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, speaking to MOTD: "We deserved to get a point for the second half performance. We put them under pressure and created more than in the first half. We don't deserve all three because we gave them good chances in the start and could have been 3-0 down. The first 10 minutes cost us the game against Man United. And it almost did again today. It is something we have to work on. 1-1 is a fair result.

"Every player needs to ensure that when they step out of the dressing room they are ready to compete."

Good to see Danny Ings on the bench for Liverpool, he's worked hard to recover from some tough injuries and has looked good for the U23s, would love to see him get a run out!

    Alec, London

Klopp will be rightly slaughtered by press and fans alike after his team changes if he fails to win today!!

    Brian, Ormskirk

As an Everton fan, I'm disappointed with Klopp's selection. Wanted to see Everton play Liverpool’s strongest team, them fielding a B-team just seems insulting and will get the Blues more fired up.

    Liverpool v Everton (14:15 GMT)

    Andrew Cole
Former Manchester United striker on MOTD2 Extra

Everton have never replaced Romelu Lukaku. That is their biggest problem. They never bought a centre forward and you can't do that.

Wayne Rooney will play deeper now I think, he looked back to his best against West Ham and he is still a class player.

It will be very difficult for Everton today. With Big Sam in charge you'd never say never but I can't see them getting anything.

    Southampton 1-1 Arsenal

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

It was a good decision getting Giroud on because Southampton made it so difficult for Arsenal to play through them - it got to the point where you thought Arsenal wouldn't score.

On balance, Saints had the better chances. But is it what you'd call a good point for Arsenal? I'm not so sure.

Southampton will be gutted they didn't pull that off. They had chances to score a second, with Oriol Romeu hitting the crossbar and Ryan Bertrand poking wide, and I don't think Arsenal would've found a way back from 2-0 down.

The hosts defended so well all day, but Olivier Giroud proved his worth with a tremendous header to level late on.

Team selections dominating the chatmosphere at the moment. Should Olivier Giroud be starting more games? Why has Jurgen Klopp named the XI that he has? Who will play in the Manchester derby...?
