Jurgen Klopp, speaking (arguing) with Sky Sports: "Our performance was good. We didn't score often enough. I saw only one team playing. I can't believe the situation with all the challenges. We were clean and didn't make any fouls. There is always one nasty one - Sigurdsson made that. A clear red card. You see the picture of the penalty. Calvert-Lewin is smart but it is nothing. But it is a penalty and one team can celebrate and we can't.

"I don't understand why the ref is doing that [give the penalty]. I didn't use one swear word. Only one team is trying over 95 minutes to win it. The other team are not in our box and didn't have a shot on target bar the penalty."

After a minute of arguing with Sky's interviewer over whether it was a penalty, which included the interviewer saying he thought it was and Klopp laughing...

"Lovren doesn't make a challenge. Calvert-Lewin makes a step. The hand is on the back. If you think it is a penalty say so. Does my opinion change anything?

"I only want to speak to people with a little bit of understanding about football. I am sorry, I am wrong and you are right. Obviously I am not in the mood to answer questions."

On taking Mohamed Salah off: "That is my job. I make decisions that I think are right. It is your job to say afterwards if it is right. We lived more or less in their box. We could have scored earlier. I have to live with that."

Jurgen Klopp may well regret that interview. He ended it with 'sorry for all I said before".

It's an emotional time for managers of course.

Klopp was very naive today. If Coutinho, Firmino, Can, etc had started and Salah kept on, Liverpool would have scored three or four goals and the penalty would be irrelevant.

Jurgen Klopp is fuming in his post-match interview. Livid.

Full quotes to come but he thought it wasn't a penalty and thinks Gylfi Sigurdsson should have been sent off.

He spoke to the referee and 'did not use one swear word".

Everton striker Wayne Rooney: "It is a fantastic point for us. Liverpool are a fantastic team with good individual players. We knew it would be difficult and we would need to be patient. We defended brilliantly. We had two or three moments on the break that we had to take and we did that.

"It is great to play the derby. It is great for the city and there are bragging rights. The Evertonians will be more pleased. It is always nice to score against Liverpool, no matter who you play for.

"I had to keep myself composed. Lovren kicked the ball away and that gave me time. I knew where I was going. I practiced yesterday and thankfully I caught it right. It looked a clear penalty. He pushed him over and the ref has made the right decision."

Everton, if they have any sense, surely can't feel pride or satisfaction from that result...!

    Michael, Leeds

Outcome: Liverpool not as good as they think they are, Everton not as bad as people think they are. Forecast: United not as negative as people think they'll be, City not as expansive as they have been.

Jurgen Klopp's decision to leave out Wijnaldum, Firmino, Coutinho and Can will come back to hurt him now.

Whether those players would have made the difference or not, if you don't pick them and then don't win you're leaving yourself open to questions.

Guardiola won't change the way that City play for this derby.

They are so expansive, have so much movement and create so much space.

I fancy them to win today.

The Everton fans are delighted with that point. It didn't look like coming for most of that game - Everton had just 21% of possession and had only three attempts on goal to Liverpool's 23.

But they ground out a point. One poor Dejan Lovren challenge made the difference.
