    Chelsea 1-0 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino tells Sky Sports: "It was a difficult game especially in the second half we suffered a lot. When you play with five defenders, you do not have a lot of people in the middle and they managed the ball more. We got a couple of chances, we were close but we fought until the end and were close to equalising.

"The quality of the goal was good, but maybe we can learn more from there.

"We play in an unusual way to try and use Ryan Bertrand in the wide area. In general, the spirit was good and we competed well.

"It is not easy to have many chances against Chelsea, we had three clear chances but could not score.

"The team is training well, the mentality is good and are fighting. We are creating a good atmosphere to try and bounce back from this situation. Football is tight but we have another opportunity next Saturday."

  4. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 68 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Ham

Plenty of jeers from the home fans for Hammers striker Marko Arnautovic, who turns Stoke youngster Josh Tymon but can only whip a shot on to the crossbar.

  5. 'Newcastle produced a high-physical performance'published at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "The necessity to win was playing on the mind of the players towards the end.

"We had three games in six days. In the last one you could suffer because Newcastle produced a high-physical performance.

"We had two away games and two draws. Against Manchester United we had a quality performance but couldn't get the win."

  6. 'We have to keep working this way'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez explaining to BBC's Match of the Day why this team didn't manage a draw against Arsenal having had chances:

"Maybe the same question [why we didn't get the draw] in the last two or three games. We had our chances. We were pushing and attacking. We had chances to draw. It's a pity. We are learning. In some games we are one goal behind. The players are working hard. It's a pity.

On being in the bottom three: "We knew this could be difficult. Two or three games we could draw or win. We need to be competitive like today and keep going. We are a young team. When you're not winning you lose confidence.

"We have to keep working this way. Try to get a result. In January, try to bring in people.

"The fans know the team will be tough. They also know we need something in January - that will help the current squad."

  7. 'Frustrated'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Brighton 0-0 Burnley

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton defender Bruno: "First-half we were much better, but in the second-half they had a lot of the ball. It was always going to be a tough game because they're on a good run.

"The penalty was the biggest chance of the game of course, Glenn Murray normally scores all of them, so I'm frustrated for him and for all of us.

"Mat Ryan was outstanding today again, his save to deny Wood was magnificent. Hopefully he can keep saving all of the goals."

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

  9. CLOSE!published at 59 mins

    Stoke 0-1 West Ham

    Oh, Arnautovic!

Marko, on his return to Stoke, does all the hard work by running 30 yards towards goal, completely skinning Kevin Wimmer, but he sticks his shot into the side-netting.

Hammers midfielder Arthur Masuaki goes into the book for time-wasting on a throw-in.

  10. 'We had to rely on Maty Ryan'published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Brighton 0-0 Burnley

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Chris Hughton: "It's been difficult, we had to rely on Maty [Ryan] to make a really good save in the second-half, but it should have never got to that period, we had a lot of chances in the first-half."

On Glenn Murray's penalty: "You've got two competitive players, and there's always going to be that physicality, the penalty that was given, was a penalty. Everybody misses them now and again, Glenn is normally very reliable, and the majority will go in, but occasionally they will miss."

On Mat Ryan: "We've needed Matty to be on form, it was a busy day for him, Burnley play a way that's very effective and they mix it up well. He's made some big saves at crucial moments, and we've needed him."

Ramadan Sobhi does enough to hold off his marker, but his final shot goes well wide.

Stoke then take a short free-kick and it lands to Xherdan Shaqiri. He lets fly but a deflection off Aaron Cresswell takes the sting out of it and Adrian makes an easy save.

  12. 'It's good to get a solid clean-sheet'published at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Brighton 0-0 Burnley

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan: "We caused them a lot of trouble in the first-half. The penalty was probably our best chance, but unfortunately he wasn't able to convert for us. It's another good point at home, so we just need to carry it forward.

"It's my job back there, and I try to help the guys when I can. After the flurry of goals we've conceded recently it's good to get a solid clean-sheet. Burnley have been one of the form teams of the league up until now, so it's a step moving forward after a difficult period.

"We want to be a long staying team in the Premier League, we've got everything to do that, so we're confident we can do that."

  13. 'A good point on the road'published at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Brighton 0-0 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley defender James Tarkowski: "It's a good point, we had good results in midweek and last weekend. It was a difficult first-half for us, but we dominated the second-half I think - we had plenty of good chances."

  14. 'Ozil's goal was a gem'published at 17:10 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger speaking to BBC's Match of the Day: "Overall we deserved to win - we had plenty of chances. In the final 10 minutes we became edgy. Overall, I feel we dominated."

"It was physically difficult today after three games in six days.

"Ozil's goal was a gem. Good that he scores important goals. That was a great goal.

"The strange thing in our last games is that our displays have been good but we didn't win. That's why it's important to win today.

"I had an eye on Jack Wilshere. He takes advaatage from long preparation and good stamina.

"Ainsley Maitland-Niles could have had a goal. He was sharp."

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 17:09 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Stoke 0-1 West Ham

The second half is about to begin here.

In case you haven't heard, Stoke ran out of power so kick-off was delayed for an hour.

Mark Hughes exits the tunnel and waves his arms to encourage the Stoke fans to get behind the team. It looked like he took a little tumble along the way. Awks.

    Watford 1-4 Huddersfield Town

    Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield striker Collin Quaner: "We deserved it today. It feels great. In the game everything went so quick. In the first half, to score early, is good for us and our confidence.

"Today you could see what we are about. We did it all together. If they score it is always hectic for 10 minutes but we stayed in the game and kept our focus.

"We didn't think about the away form and took it game by game. We are where we deserve to be."

  19. 'We came here with great belief that we could win'published at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle midfielder Issac Hayden: "We were unfortunate not to get anything. In the last few games we have been there and thereabouts. In the last 10 minutes we could have nicked something. If we play like that again then we will get out of the spot we're in.

"We can't deny the passion and commitment from the lads.

"We came here with great belief that we can win the game - it shows the group is spirited."
