    Bournemouth 0-0 Liverpool

Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe is given something to run on to for the first time from Charlie Daniel's ball slipped through.

Now 35 years of age, the dimunitive frontman does not have the legs to get to it as Dejan Lovren comes across to cover.

Defoe might have got to that five years ago.

Terry Butcher has been talking about Eddie Howe in the build up to today’s game and says he will be England manager in the future. And he’s also been critical of Liverpool's defence deserving the attack as diamonds but the players at the back as a soft touch.

Eddie Howe is a future England manager in my book. Since Bournemouth came up to the Premier League, he's got them playing fantastic, lovely football.

He gets extra out of players and playing to their absolute maximum. Players want to play for him.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool have started on the front foot and Joe Gomez gets down the line.

He puts a dangerous ball into the box which whistles just past Asmir Begovic's right-hand post, but the Bournemouth goalkeeper did not look troubled, suggesting he had his angles covered.

You don't see this too often.

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho, standing at 5ft 7in, leaps to win Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's cross into the box but his header lacks direction and falls wide of goal.

Too much time and space given to the Brazilian there.

    Bournemouth v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

    Jonathan Pearce
BBC Match of the Day commentator

"For all the talk of Liverpool's attacking potency, they're six points and seven goals worse off than at this stage last season.

"Juggling Premier League and Champions League has proven harder than expected.

"Making 65 changes to their starting line-up in the league has led to a lack of consistency. Brilliant against mediocre opposition of late, they haven't been able to beat more stubborn sides.

"Bournemouth will be resolute. Without a win in five and too close to the bottom three, they'll have to be.

"They deserved somethingat Manchester United. They've also conceded just seven goals in their last eight games."

  10. 'We had less ambition after the break'published at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2017

    West Brom 1-2 Man Utd

    Manchester United

United manager Jose Mourinho speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we deserved the win. We were the best team. I knew and the players knew that West Brom is very dangerous on set-pieces.

"We controlled the game for a long, long time, then manager Alan Pardew reacts. We had a few chances to kill the game but I knew they would react."

Did United's levels drop in the second half?

"I think less ambition after the break. The intensity in the first half maybe we didn't have in the second half. West Brom are really powerful in the air. But after their goal we controlled the game again. We brought the ball into the opposition half."

Why didn't Lukaku celebrate his goal?

"I didn't celebrate too. Nobody was happier than me. Fifteen years ago I look at myself celebrating goals. With maturity you go into levels that you control your emotions better.

"Romelu was a happy kid at West Brom (on loan during the 2012-13 season) - maybe at the back of the mind it was his love for the club."

  12. Bournemouth have goal scoring abilitypublished at 16:21 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2017

    Bournemouth v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

    Terry Butcher
Ex-England captain on BBC Radio 5 live

If you've got the potential to score goals, and Bournemouth have, they've got Joshua King, Callum Wilson and Jermain Defoe, they do have the ability to get a goal early and then try and defend that lead for the entire game.

Defoe and King have scored some wonderful goals this season so Bournemouth and Eddie Howe will be looking to them today.

I think Jurgen Klopp is rattled. Liverpool are six points worse off this season than at the same stage last season, and that may be down to his rotating team selection.

I think he's frustrated because they are creating chances but they're not finishing them. They could be up there with Manchester City, but they're not.

  13. Run with the formulapublished at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2017

    Bournemouth v Liverpool (16:30 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Why did Jurgen Klopp start messing around [with squad rotation]? When things are going well, leave it alone. Do you need to rotate three at a time? It upsets the balance and rhythm. They were flying. It makes no sense to me. They were unbelievable against Brighton, they tore them apart.

You've found a formula - run with it. If someone gets a knock, then you bring in a player to replace them.

    Jermain DefoeImage source, BBC Sport

The 18 year-old Jermain Defoe really doesn’t look much different to the 35 year-old version and his two goals at Crystal Palace showed he certainly hasn’t lost his touch.

Eddie Howe is actually spoilt for choice for strikers with Defoe, Callum Wilson, Joshua King and Benik Afobe all in his squad yet funnily enough Bournemouth have struggled for goals this season.

Liverpool certainly haven’t and scored three here last season but still ended up losing the game! A win today though and they’d be back up to 4th, a point ahead of Arsenal.
