    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

Mousa Dembele goes in hard on Kyle Walker - his arm comes round his neck as he pushes the Manchester City full-back - a former Spurs team-mate of course - in a rugged challenge in search of the ball. Foul.

  2. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

Oooh. Sergio Aguero is offside and his touch is poor anyway as Fernandinho looks to lift a through ball over the bank of black Spurs shirts lined up on the edge of their own penalty area.

Spurs are yet to have a shot on target. City have had four.

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

Under FIVE minutes until the break for Tottenham to salvage something from this pretty average start. They've let City run this.

John Arto Morris: How has Otamendi not been sent off for that? If Mane was a red against City then that's a red for City; simple.

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

Ilkay Gundogan is caught from behind by Dele Alli. Free-kick. Way out from goal and to the left. To be lifted in.

Fernandinho is having a word in the ref's ear about a card, which doesn't come. Alli has done pretty much nothing so far.

Chris Baldwin: Pochettino has had a lot of nice things said about his side for two years. But at some point they have to turn up against the big teams - this is just embarrassing.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 37 mins

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

Harry Kane takes a knock from Nicolas Otamend as the Argentina defender looks to boot a ball clear. He caught Kane in the face. No malice but dangerous. Yellow card.

Kane is back up again and should be fine, if a little stung.

    Bradley Allen
Ex-QPR striker on BBC Radio London at the Etihad

It's been one of Harry Kane's quietest performances all year, but there's a reminder of what he can do. He's got the ball into feet and he's curled one, that's gone just a yard or so wide.

Looking at City's position in the table as it stands is sort of like if it's 2035 on Football Manager and your team is a bit too talented. Can't believe it's real!

City are just zig-zagging their way through Spurs with such quality - it's just a few finishes that's lacking. They really could be two or three up if they'd put all their chances away.

  11. CLOSE!published at 35 mins

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

The first we've really seen of Harry Kane. He's had enough, wants to force things. He picks up Christian Eriksen's pass with no right to shoot but shapes into a fraction of space and angles a blistering effort that just veers wide of the post.

  12. CHANCE!published at 33 mins

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

Kieran Trippier is OK but now he has different problems. Here comes Leroy Sane blazing into space on the overlap, he just takes a heavy touch and Hugo Lloris can cover.

Sergio Aguero then sends a daisy-cutting low drive just wide of Lloris' left-hand post.

Steve, you're best off where you are.

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

    Bradley Allen

There's hope for Tottenham, but Man City are showing why they're top of the league, and why they're unbeaten so far in the Premier League - they look awesome.

  15. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

Kieran Trippier wins this one. He robs Leroy Sane then sets Son Heung-min on his way. But City swarm back to regain possession.

Trippier took a blow from a Fabian Delph sliding tackle and is down. The ref waves the Spurs physio on.

  16. CHANCE!published at 29 mins

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

What a pass from Kevin de Bruyne - I have that on copy paste. First time out wide to Leroy Sane, he splits the Spurs defence again.

Sane's cross misses Ilkay Gundogan and Danny Rose blocks quite brilliantly as the ball sits up perfectly for Sergio Aguero to fire home on the bounce.

  18. City breaking at pacepublished at 17:59 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

    Bradley Allen
Ex-QPR striker on BBC Radio London at the Etihad

Spurs just need to try and have a little bit of the football, try and have some possession. But the change up when City counter is quite brilliant, the speed at which they break is phenomenal.

  19. CHANCE!published at 27 mins

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

Ilkay Gundogan shapes a shot on goal from inside the box that Hugo Lloris rather flaps at - a very unconvincing save. That falls to a City shirt and there's an easy tuck home for 2-0.

As it is, Spurs are hanging on. They hook the ball clear and survive once more

  20. Man City scenting bloodpublished at 17:57 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Man City 1-0 Tottenham

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

Manchester City are sensing the chance to kill this game off here - they are pushing Spurs back and left-back Danny Rose is having a very uncomfortable time of it.

He was clambering all over Raheem Sterling to concede a foul and was then very fortunate not to give a penalty away for a clear push on Eliaquim Mangala.
