    Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

The game is rattling along at an express pace - a really good watch. Arsenal first flood down the right, with Hector Bellerin getting in behind and seeing his cross cut out well by James Tomkins, and then the left, with Sead Kolasinac's cross hitting an apologetic Mesut Ozil on the back of the heel.

Jeff Gurr: Crystal Palace sitting too far back against Arsenal. Need to get Zaha into the game.

Femi John Atoyebi: Now Crystal Palace have to come out and show more ambition.

Nigel Birch: Are Arsenal going to have another season flattering to deceive? A good set of players, but always with better teams above them in the Premier League.

  3. CLOSE!published at 33 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

There we go, get it to Zaha and watch! The Palace winger has the ball on the left-hand side of the box, he wriggles a yard of space and then curls a low shot which snakes just beyond the far post with Petr Cech at full stretch.

People digging shots at Arsenal when in fact they don't understand that the league has got harder. Don't think it's Wenger's fault at all.

BBC Radio 5 live at Selhurst Park

Palace fans aren't happy with referee Michael Oliver. Many on their feet blaming him for the goal, arguing there was no foul on Jack Wilshere the minute before.

Calum Chambers just gone in the book for a tactical foul on Zaha. He's got to be careful now. He won't want a red on his first Premier League start of the season.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 31 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

Great save! Should be two nil as Alexis Sanchez threads a fine ball through from the left wing, Mesut Ozil is running in on goal and tries a first-time flick - repelled by the arm of Julian Speroni. Good save indeed.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 30 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

As blatant a booking as you will see - Wilfried Zaha steps around the committed Calum Chambers inside his own half and Chambers just bodychecks him to stop the break.

Palace need to get their dangerman/mouse on the ball.

  8. 'Arsenal have been mesmerizing'published at 20:28 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2017

It has been coming. The domination Arsenal have been showing in the last five minutes has been mesmerizing.

Scott Dann just goes to sleep and Mustafi peels away at the back post and the ball falls at his feet. Dann will be disappointed he got caught ball watching.

  9. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

Jack Wilshere dives in on Yohan Cabaye, to the fury of the home crowd. Foul given but no more than that.

  10. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

Should Julian Speroni have done better with that? Palace are on the rack here.

    Shkodran Mustafi

Arsenal's pressure tells - though not in the way you'd imagine as they score from a set-piece! Palace don't clear a free-kick, Alexandre Lacazette has a cross blocked, puts another cross/shot into the middle and Julian Speroni can only palm it away to his right.

Shkodran Mustafi is free, wide of the goal, and shows excellent composure to sidefoot into the empty net. Took that really well.

David Ljunggren: This sluggish predictable Arsenal side are so far removed from being a serious top four team that it's tough to watch.

Richard Browne: Zaha being fit is a much bigger difference to Palace than Hodgson being manager.

Andy White: Zaha has that creativity that a team like Man Utd could do with this season.........

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal are really dominating the ball now, up to 70% possession, and when Palace do get the ball back they have limited options. It is banged up field for Christian Benteke to chase but he can't do anything with that. Bit of composure needed.

Long since stopped caring about Arsenal FC. Was a season ticket holder for two decades, first game in 1977 and only knew they were playing as it’s on in the pub. WENGER OUT.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Arsenal

That would have been goal of 2017! What a move, scintillating, one-touch stuff from Arsenal as they weave a web of passes through midfield, it eventually comes out to the left and Sead Kolasinac's pass finds Granit Xhaka, whose shot is blocked.

That was brilliant. Moments later Mesut Ozil threads a cross right through the goalmouth.

  16. 'Lacazette has not justified price tag or reputation'published at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2017

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Arsenal

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on 5 live

I think the word 'OK' sums it up for Alexandre Lacazette. You can't say more than that and you can't say less. There is flashes of a goal scoring striker, but there is not enough to justify the price tag or reputation.

  17. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Arsenal

Straight away, a decent opening for the Gunners as Hector Bellerin finds space on the right, his cutback is a good one and finds Jack Wilshere inside the area, the bounce is slightly awkward for him to hit and he side-foots tamely into a Palace body, and Alexis Sanchez's strike is also blocked.

Instantly, Palace counter and the busy Calum Chambers gets away with a handball on the edge of the area.

Wilfried Zaha walks onto the pitch at Selhurst Park

Mark Wilkins: Selhurst Park can be a difficult place to go, if the crowd's up for it. I can see Palace springing an upset tonight!

Garreth Frank: On current form/motivation, I’d take Zaha over Sanchez. On any form/motivation I would take him over Walcott

John Davies: A fan of neither team, but I want a Loftus-Cheek stormer! Fantasy football means more at this festive time of year! Haha

  19. CLOSE!published at 16 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Arsenal

Good hit! Again it comes down the Palace left, Wilfried Zaha tees up Yohan Cabaye in the centre of midfield and his low shot has Petr Cech worried but skids into the side-netting.

Andros Townsend to Wilfried Zaha, in between two Arsenal defenders who are rightly scared to make a challenge and in the end Calum Chambers nips it away for a corner.

Nothing comes of it though. Zaha looks so dangerous.
