After his side's sixth consecutive loss in all competitions, Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp told BBC WM 95.6:

"We played well in the first half and started the second half well. Then they came on to us and we couldn't handle it.

"We sort of disintegrated a bit really. It was just rank poor play from us that cost us goals.

"The players have got to adjust to the Championship if they are going to survive in this league. It was horrendous defending in the middle of the park.

"I didn't tell them to do that, that's for sure, but I take the blame - that's the way the game is."

After Sol Bamba's stoppage-time equaliser for Cardiff denied Sheffield Wednesday all three points at the Cardiff City Stadium, Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"In all our draws this season we have deserved something more. Today it was a very high-standard game, very high quality.

"We were fantastic in the first half. We silenced the crowd. I'm disappointed because my players deserved three points.

"It (Cardiff's goal) looked offside but it was a very hard decision for the assistant."

AP: Win, lose, or draw, the evening belongs to Patrick Cryne

Barnsley supporters have been touched by the words written by terminally ill club owner Patrick Cryne in the last matchday programme. So far, there has been little to celebrate on the pitch, but it won't take away from the depth of feeling at Oakwell, where they are also celebrating their 130th anniversary.

Following his side's 1-0 loss at Millwall earlier this afternoon, Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen told the club's website:

"I'm disappointed by the result. The first minutes showed how the game would be.

"We didn't come in to the match in the right way to take three points.

"It is one bad result. It is not right to judge the team on this."

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 16 September 2017

    Barnsley 0-2 Aston Villa

Albert Adomah has come up with both goals for Aston Villa at Oakwell, the first from an atrocious defensive mix-up that saw a long ball dribble past goalkeeper Adam Davies and the second a coolly slotted penalty after Adam Jackson's challenge on Keinan Davis.

That penalty, it must be said was fiercely protested by the Tykes as Jackson appeared to get the slightest of touches as he clattered into Davis.

    Barnsley 0-2 Aston Villa

Keinan Davis is at it again, putting Barnsley's defence under all sorts of pressure.

He gets a shot off in the first of four added minutes at the end of the half, but it is dealt with easy enough.

Things are stating to get a bit feisty as well, with Jonathan Kodjia upset with something.

    Barnsley 0-1 Aston Villa

Jason McCarthy is allowed to run, and run and run for Barnsley...

He is invited to shoot and obliges with a harmless toe-poke. Aston Villa captain John Terry had it covered and took a knock for his effort.

The former England and Chelsea skipper shakes it off. No worries.

  13. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Barnsley 0-1 Aston Villa

These past few minutes from Barnsley has really got the home crowd in fine voice.

They are certainly knocking on the door of an equaliser, it seems. That final ball, however, is lacking right now.

    Barnsley 0-1 Aston Villa

A few half chances falling Barnsley's way now.

Jason McCarthy with the ball on the right, has Aston Villa's defence on high alert.

Danger is cleared behind for a corner.

Villa make a little hard work of mopping up from there as Glenn Whelan heads his attempted clearane against team-mate Ahmed Elmohamady. The visitors survive.

    Barnsley 0-1 Aston Villa

Not a lot happening at the minute.

Aston Villa really have looked very comfortable and willing to invite Barnsley to come at them.

Steve Bruce's side are playing with composure at the back and really have been untroubled since being gifted the opening goal.

  17. YELLOW CARD (Hammill)published at 25 mins

Barnsley's Adam Hammill is the first to go into the book.

Both he and Glenn Whelan have eyes for the ball, and they fly into the challenge. Whelan comes of a little worse and Hamill is shown a yellow.

  18. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Barnsley 0-1 Aston Villa

Barnsley have been allowed to spring forward down the flanks a number of times, but each time their attack is suffocated when centred.

George Moncur is the latest to whip a ball in, but it is swept away with ease.

A shocking piece of goalkeeping leads to the opening goal at Oakwell.

A long hopeful punt forward looks routine enough, but Adam Davies comes forward and gets nothing on it. Not. A. Tough.

Sure, Albert Adomah is applying pressure, but the ball gets under the body of Davies and it is the simplest of tap-in finishes.

  20. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Aston Villa

Jonathan Kodjia has thrown himself into plenty of the action in his first start of the season for Aston Villa.

The visitors seeing plenty of the ball but are labouring to carve out clear cut chances.

Some space opens up for Keinan Davis and he lets rip from distance. High and harmless.
