Tonight, Barnsley mark their 130th anniversary.

There are players of old in the stands, a special 130-page matchday programme and all sorts of bells and whistles that come with such an occasion.

But the cherry on the cake, I'm sure all will agree, would be the three points against Aston Villa.

Let's see how the celebrations get on...

  11. 'Sing for Cryne'published at 17:21 British Summer Time 16 September 2017

    Patrick CryneImage source, Empics

This week, terminally ill Barnsley owner Patrick Cryne gave sport one of the most poignant letters you are ever likely to read in a club programme.

Cryne, 66, who has cancer, revealed that he is "living on borrowed time" and thanked fans for their "kindness down the years".

On the night, Barnsley players dedicated their EFL Cup second-round win over Derby to the club owner.

Since then, Tykes manager Paul Heckingbottom has implored supporters to sing Cryne's name tonight.

It would make for a particularly emotional chant at the end of a very touching week at at Oakwell.

  12. Can 'dino' Bruce turn it around?published at 17:18 British Summer Time 16 September 2017

Barnsley v Aston Villa (17:30 BST)

    Steve BruceImage source, Empics

Under-pressure Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has responded to social media-led criticism from supporters by defending his Championship record.

Ahead of this evenings trip to Barnsley and following today's earlier fixture, Villa are 20th in the table with seven points from seven games.

And some fans are upset by the club's inconsistent start under Bruce, Villa's seventh boss in seven years.

So what did the man himself have to say about it?

"I've heard I'm a dinosaur. But I've been promoted twice in the five years," Bruce told BBC WM. "If I go, who are they going to get who's any better?"

"If it's the last-chance saloon, then so be it.

"If that's what they want. But who's creating that? Social media and radio phone-ins."

Barnsley v Aston Villa (17:30 BST)

Now we'll be turning our attention primarily to this evening's late Championship game between Barnsley and under-pressure Aston Villa.

Let's take a look at the team news...

  16. Exeter still flying and Luton leave it latepublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 16 September 2017

    League Two headlines

Now for a look at League Two, where table-topping Exeter City did it easy to keep their unbeaten start to the season intact, beating Crewe 3-0.

Kevin Nolan's Notts County are still flying high as they prevailed 1-0 against Harry Kewell's Crawley Town.

Port Vale remain bottom as Forest Green fight back to draw 1-1.

And there was late, and I mean VERY late, drama as Luton Town's James Collins scores a 98th-minute winner against Wycombe. The initial equaliser for the Hatters had come in the final minute of normal time.

  17. Shrews lead the way as Grigg sparks uppublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 16 September 2017

    League One headlines

A quick glance at the League One headlines this afternoon.

At the top of the table, Shrewsbury remain unbeaten as they overcome Oldham Athletic 2-1. A quirky tale in that one being that opening scorer Stefan Payne went off with a nose injury just moments after putting the Shrews 1-0 up.

Blackburn had their four-match winning run halted, with AFC Wimbledon triumphing away from home for the first time in nine league games.

Also, MK Dons got all three points in a see-sawing match against Rochdale and Will Grigg (the one who used to be on fire) got his first goal in 30 league matches as Wigan beat Bristol.

  18. Postpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 16 September 2017

    FT: Millwall 1-0 Leeds

Leeds, incidentally, remain top of the Championship on goal difference, despite their first loss of the season - a deserved one against an inspired Millwall side, who had 20 shots on goal to Leeds' one.

  19. The full-time Championship headlinespublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 16 September 2017

Millwall v LeedsImage source, Rex Features

    • Hull City and Sunderland's losing streaks come to an end with a 1-1 draw.
    • Middlesbrough edge out QPR at the Riverside, Britt Assombalonga scoring the winner in a five-goal thriller.
    • Preston North End continue their impressive start to the season, coming from behind to win at Harry Redknapp's Birmingham City.
    • Bristol City, who've also only lost once, thrash Derby County 4-1 at Ashton Gate, while Diogo Jota gives Wolves victory at Nottingham Forest.
    • Cole Skuse scores for the first time in two years as Ipswich Town beat bottom side Bolton Wanderers, while Stephen Warnock scores his first goal in 100 appearances as Burton Albion beat Fulham.
    • Elsewhere, Norwich City win at Sheffield United, winless Brentford draw with Reading and Cardiff City score a late equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday.
