    St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright: "It's not a 3-0. I thought we were very good. We got in to really good positions, got in behind them but our final ball let us down all night. We must have been into double digits in corners. We lacked that bit of quality in the final third. For 70 minutes I thought we slightly edged the game overall but the sending-off kills us, really. Good players in space create more opportunities and 3-0 flatters them a little bit. It's a sending-off by the letter of the law. I think the referee is saying it was aggressive behaviour [for Steven Anderson's first booking]. For the second one, it's probably the right decision but the first one surely can't be a yellow card or we'll be dishing them left, right and centre now. Overall I was happy with the performance."

    I thought Bruno Alves was magnificent. He is an imposing figure. St Johnstone never really looked like breaking Rangers down. It was an impressive performance by Rangers. They never looked like giving anything away tonight.

    St Johnstone came out for the second half with a real intensity but Rangers grew in confidence and they rode out that five-continuous-corner scenario. They deserve enormous credit for the way they defended tonight. It has been something that Pedro Caixinha has mentioned he wanted to improve. Credit where it is due - if he has been working on it, which he says he has during the international break, then they did defend well. Graham Dorrans was a stand-out. His quality on the ball is superb, his composure, he's a goal threat. His contribution has been magnificent since he joined.

Soon after, Rangers win possession in midfield, then Alfredo Morelos is brought down on the edge of the box but the referee waves play on as the men in black have the advantage. Indeed, they do, as Graham Dorrans gallops into the Saints box to side-foot into the net Jason Holt's inviting assist. A peach of a move.
