  1. 'It's a game to get your teeth into' - Lennonpublished at 19:29 British Summer Time 24 October 2017

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

Hibernian head coach Neil Lennon: "It’s always a great occasion. Both sets of fans are looking forward to it; it’s been a long time in the making for a league derby.

"You’re only as good as your last one, so it’s important we maintain our level of performance from the last three games to have any chance of winning.

"Looking at Hearts’ line up, it looks like they’re going to try to pack midfield. They’re a big, physical team and we have to match that and try to play when we can. It’s a game to get your teeth into.

"This is a derby, it means so much to the Hibs fans to win this and you can make your name as a Hibs player. We need to start strongly and get the crowd on our side.

"I played in many Old Firm derbies when we were in the ascendancy or Rangers were and the result didn’t go the way you expected.

"Every derby is different, but we’re strong, we’ve got plenty of firepower in the team."

  2. Rangers anger at Alves citingpublished at 19:26 British Summer Time 24 October 2017

The Scottish FA's compliance officer has offered Rangers defender Bruno Alves a two-game suspension for a clash with Motherwell's Louis Moult in Sunday's League Cup semi-final.

Rangers have issued a statement criticising the decision, especially as Well's forward Ryan Bowman has not been cited for an elbow that broke the nose of the Glasgow side's centre-half, Fabio Cardoso.

It's led to much debate in the Sportsound studio, with the general consensus being that Rangers have a case in complaining about Bowman escaping action but that Alves also deserved a ban.

  3. Hearts seek third straight winpublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 24 October 2017

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

Hibs go into the game without a win in three games. Indeed, they haven't won in their last three league games at Easter Road.

Hearts are seeking a third straight victory. Since losing 4-1 away to Celtic on 5 August, they haven't won or lost by more than one goal.

A win for seventh-placed Hibs would take them a point above Hearts in the table with a game in hand.

The added incentive for Hearts is that a win would lift the Tynecastle outfit above Motherwell and Rangers into third, albeit having played two more games.

St Johnstone v Ross County (19:45)

Owen Coyle returns to McDiarmid Park as Ross County manager 10 years after ending his two-year spell with St Johnstone boss there.

His side's 2-1 win over Hamilton on Saturday was their second in three games since he took over in Dingwall, while his former club are looking to avoid a fourth straight defeat.

County are unbeaten in their last three visits to McDiarmid Park.

But St Johnstone have won three of their last four meetings with the Dingwall outfit as the away side has won all four of the last games between them.

Saints sit sixth in the Premiership, four points ahead of eight-placed County.

  8. Thistle edge damning statisticspublished at 19:04 British Summer Time 24 October 2017

Partick Thistle v Hamilton Academical (19:45)

Hamilton are looking to avoid a seventh straight defeat, while Thistle's win over Dundee on Saturday ended their own run of nine games without a victory.

Thistle are unbeaten in 11 meetings between the sides, with Accies' last win over the Glasgow side being at Firhill in August 2014.

Accies and Thistle have the two worst defences in the Premiership this season, Accies conceding 21 goals and Thistle 19 (equal with Dundee).

Thistle will move above Kilmarnock off the bottom of the table if they take at least a point, while a win would also take them above visitors Hamilton and Dundee into ninth place.

A point or more would take Accies above Dundee.

  9. Return of Edinburgh league derbiespublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 24 October 2017

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

Tonight has been a long time coming for football fans in Edinburgh.

It is the first league meeting between Hibs and Hearts since April 2015, when both were in the Championship.

Hibs are unbeaten in their past seven meetings with Hearts in all competitions.

Hearts' last win over Hibs was in August 2014, when they were still in the second tier.

Of course, there was an Edinburgh derby last season, with Hibs winning 3-1 at Easter Road in the Scottish Cup back in February, but none of their three scorers that day are still with Neil Lennon's squad.

    Hibernian v Hearts (19:45)

Hibs manager Neil Lennon has made four changes to his side as he looks to win the opening Edinburgh derby of the season.

Goalkeeper Ofir Marciano replaces Ross Laidlaw, who had a bit of a mare against Celtic in the League Cup semi-final.

And right-back Steven Whittaker, winger Martin Boyle and striker Simon Murray also all make the starting line-up, with Anthony Stokes missing out through injury and David Gray and Vykintas Slivka also dropping out.

    Scotland v Albania (19:30)

Shelley Kerr's side host group minnows Albania.

  14. Back to the Premiershippublished at 18:45

We've hardly recovered from a weekend of highs and lows in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals and we're thrust into two nights of Scottish Premiership action.

You'll have to wait until tomorrow for the mouthwatering top-of-the-table tussle between Celtic and Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

But tonight there is the equally inviting prospect of an Edinburgh derby as Hibernian host Hearts.

There's also a big game, for different reasons, along the M8, with bottom place the unwanted prize as Partick Thistle visit Hamilton Academical, who are only a point ahead of the side propping up the Premiership.

Meanwhile, up in Perth, St Johnstone look to arrest their recent slide as they host Ross County.
