What a brilliant ball into the box, and Foden has been an absolute hero for England. A simple finish, but great technique from Foden with his right foot. No long-ball football, simple stuff down the lines and they deserve this. What brilliant personality they have shown.

GOAL - England 3-2 Spainpublished at 69 mins

    Phil Foden

    WHAT A COMEBACK!

England were 2-0 down, in the World Cup final. To Spain.

    Were they rattled? No.

    Did they respond? Yes.

The match's two best players combine as Callum Hudson-Odoi surges away down the left and puts another delicious cross into the middle, there's Phil Foden at the back post and he slams home. Wonderful celebrations in the corner with the whole swuad.

    IT'S NOT WON YET...

    England 2-2 Spain

Steven Sessegnon may not even be the best full-back in his family but he's a cracking prospect. He cuts out a pass then smoothly moves through the gears to carry the ball 50 yards downfield. Out it goes to the left to the outstanding Callum Hudson-Odoi, he cuts in and shoots straight at Alvaro Fernandez.

England have had 20 shots now. Spain five.

  6. 'We've knocked the stuffing out of them'published at 16:53 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

    England 2-2 Spain

    Paul Simpson
    England Under-20 manager

We could not have asked for more. The Spanish players look jaded because we have knocked the stuffing out of them with a well-worked goal. We talked about getting behind their back four, and we have done just that.

What now in the final third of this cracking final? England have pretty much played Spain off the park for large periods.

Colin Reardon: Come on you U17's! What spectacular football. Are you watching Gareth Southgate!?

Johnny Magrinho: Foden looks an absolute quality player. Miles ahead of anyone else on the pitch. His touch, confidence & vision are all sublime

  9. NO EXTRA TIMEpublished at 61 mins

    England 2-2 Spain

Just so you know, and in case we need it, there is no extra time today. Straight to penalties.

Get that rule in the men's game.

Phil Foden cracks another shot in from range and it's well pushed away.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 60 mins

    England 2-2 Spain

England have been all over Spain but switch off at a corner and almost throw it away! The corner is whipped in, Juan Miranda nods it on and Curtis Anderson makes a strong save. That was right at him.

    Trevor Sinclair

Well deserved, they kept strong, moved it around and what a pass from Foden. It was a bobbling ball, and a great finish from Gibbs White – they have the momentum to win this now!

  12. goal

GOAL - England 2-2 Spainpublished at 58 mins

    Morgan Gibbs White

    Lovely stuff!

England level it up, and it's utterly deserved. Spain had 10 men behind the ball for a long spell there, England were patient, Phli Foden picked the lock with a lovely ball inside the full-back, Steven Sessegnon picks up his second assist with a rolled ball across and Morgan Gibbs White could not miss.

A real Fifa/Evo goal that. Triangle, triangle, square.

    England 1-2 Spain

Encouraging from the men in white, back in control of the ball now and Phil Foden is pulling the strings. He reminds me a bit of Jack Wilshere in the way he takes the ball on. Low centre of gravity.

  14. CLOSE!published at 53 mins

    England 1-2 Spain

This lad has really got talent! Phil Foden is surely a star in the making. First he beats his man with a Chrissy Waddle body swerve and sees a low shot deflected away for a corner. He then takes the corner short, dances inside again and has a cross/shot just about cleared,

Fitness could come into it, and England look like a fit bunch. The heat will make a difference in the last 20-odd minutes of the match.

  16. CLOSE!published at 50 mins

    England 1-2 Spain

Another chance for England, a fine first touch from Wolves man Morgan Gibbs White as he gathers a long ball forwards and skips away from a challenge all in one movement. He's on the edge of the area but his left-footed shot is blazed over.

A sloppy ball out at the back gives England a sniff, but the pass is fired in to the ankles of Rhian Brewster and he can't gather it in. Half a chance.

  20. How can the youngsters get the chance with their clubs?published at 16:33 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

    England 1-2 Spain

    Paul Simpson
    England Under-20 manager

A few are getting opportunities but we want more. The whole game must want it to happen, bang the drum, work together and get more young English-based players playing, because it will benefit the national team as well. The signs are there that St George's Park, and the investment from the FA, are working.
