At first, I, like many, thought Chris Wood, a Championship player, was a very risky signing. But just like Leonardo Ulloa in Leicester’s first season in the Premier League, he has proved all the doubters wrong! Cmon BURNLEY!

A rare goal at Turf Moor...

Sean Dyche is building a reputation as a master of maximising the resources at his disposal.

His Burnley side beat 10-man Watford 1-0 at the weekend, with Scott Arfield - a replacement for the injured Robbie Brady - scoring the goal that leaves them seventh in the table, level on points with Tottenham.

It was the Clarets' 34th win in the Premier League, 25 of which have been achieved by a single goal. This represents 73.53%, but is not the highest such percentage in Premier League history...

Forward Alvaro Morata has a back problem, while Cesc Fabregas is also on the bench and full-back Davide Zappacosta drops out all together.

In come Antonio Rudiger, Pedro, Victor Moses and Willian, while Danny Drinkwater is on the bench after illness.

Christian Benteke keeps his place in the Crystal Palace starting line-up despite going against manager Roy Hodgson's orders by taking (and missing) an injury-time penalty on Saturday.

Hodgson makes just the one change to the team that drew with Bournemouth with Scott Dann replacing the injured Mamadou Sakho. Yohan Cabaye starts after some concern over his fitness.

Crystal Palace XI: Speroni, Fosu-Mensah, Tomkins, Dann, Schlupp, Townsend, Cabaye, Milivojevic, Loftus-Cheek, Zaha, Benteke.

Subs: Hennessey, Van Aanholt, Lee, McArthur, Sako, Kelly, Riedewald.

Watford XI: Gomes, Janmaat, Mariappa, Kabasele, Zeeglar, Cleverley, Doucourre, Carrillo, Holebas, Richarlison, Deeney.

Stoke players were confronted by angry fans at the city's railway station as they travelled home from their 5-1 defeat by Tottenham at Wembley at the weekend.

Not nice. But perhaps fair comment.

Hughes wants his players to use the supporters' fury as motivation as they seek to address their slump in form.

Stoke are three points above the relegation zone.

Hughes said: "That is still resonating. Sometimes you need a reality check."

The confrontation took place as they arrived back at Stoke-on-Trent station on Saturday night. Will the away fans be heading home happier tonight?

A place in the Champions League qualification positions beckon for Burnley if they can beat Stoke. It's probably worth digesting that before reading any further.

While, naturally and understandably, Sean Dyche will still be thinking more about the points the Clarets need to remain in the Premier League, surely a few Burnley supporters will allow themselves a brief moment to imagine Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG at Turf Moor?!

More immediately, they face a Stoke team with the worst defensive record in the division but who curiously have scored more goals than their hosts.

In reality, Burnley's wonderful season has been built on an impermeable defence, which certainly suggests that if Stoke concede the opening goal it could well conclude the contest.

I watched Burnley play Reims and Hamburg in the European Cup as a 12 year old in 1961, the season after we secured the First Division championship with a win over Man City at Maine Road! Fabulous season under a fabulous manager.
