  1. CLOSE!published at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2017

    Swansea 0-0 Man City

Fast flowing football from Manchester City as they look to get in behind the Swansea defence quickly and they go close twice in quick succession.

First, Sergio Aguero breaks through before firing into the sidenetting before Fernandinho's low shot through a packed area is pushed away by Lukasz Fabianski.

Can't see Swansea keeping City out for long on this showing.

There are no presents yet under the tree at Old Trafford.

There is a sense of Manchester United licking their wounds here tonight.

Romelu Lukaku has only scored once in his last nine games for United but the last time he played against Bournemouth he scored four goals. That was for Everton in February.

You get the feeling the home fans would be content if their Belgian striker could grab even one goal tonight.

I was at Rush Green in Romford yesterday to see David Moyes.

With Aaron Ramsey missing for Arsene Wenger, are they a better side with or without Jack Wilshere?

This was his response when I asked him that question:

"I really like Aaron Ramsey. I tried to sign him at Everton before he went to Arsenal. He turned out to be a terrific player. Jack Wilshere is also an excellent footballer. Few injuries problems. I'm not an expert on Arsenal. I couldn't tell you whether they are better with Ramsey or Jack Wilshere but I think whoever they play they have got good players."

    Swansea 0-0 Man City

It's a predictably dominant start by Manchester City.

Despite Wilfried Bony's claims he has inside knowledge on how to beat the Premier League leaders, Swansea are defending deep at the moment. Early days, though.

    Newcastle 0-0 Everton

Martin Atkinson has a very early decision to make as Everton's Cuco Martina hacks down DeAndre Yedlin on the charge.

It's just outside the box, though, so it's a free-kick rather than a penalty.

Nothing comes of the Newcastle set piece, despite its dangerous location.

There may be lots of games coming up but you have to play your strongest side to win games. The moment you rotate and lose, people ask questions. Play your best team, put your best players put. The challenge is to get into the top four, which is going to be difficult, and I didn’t quite understand the changes he made against Everton.

Southampton v Leicester City (19:45 GMT)

Welcome to the Claude Puel derby (yes, we're making it a thing).

The relatively new Leicester boss returns to St Mary's on the back of three straight wins.

Leicester have earned 17 points from eight league games since Craig Shakespeare was sacked. They are unbeaten in their last six Premier League away matches and have already matched last season's paltry total of two wins on the road.

Southampton have a decent record against their opponents, though. Their only top-flight defeat in 11 home matches against the Foxes came at The Dell in April 2000.

But Saints have only won one of their last seven league matches, drawing three and losing three.

Highly doubt Swansea will get anything out of this but if they want to they must nullify the threat of De Bruyne more than anyone else. His passing and vision can tear apart any defence

Mind you, just imagine the noise that will come from the Swansea dressing room tonight if they grab the most unlikeliest of victories....

Two weeks ago this looked a very different fixture. West Ham had just conceded four at Goodison Park and were seven games without a league win, while Arsenal had routinely put five past Huddersfield to stay in touch with the top four.

Since then, West Ham have pushed the leaders all the way and unexpectedly beaten the champions, but Arsenal have only picked up a point from their last two games and began the week out of the Champions League places.

The question now is whether the Hammers can use the win over Chelsea as a springboard to upset another of the big boys?

Saturday's win will provide a huge injection of belief and, after the weekend draw at Southampton, Arsenal will be fully aware of the need to get back on track.

Manchester United's 40-game unbeaten home run came to an end in their defeat by bitter rivals Manchester City on Sunday. Can they bounce back against Bournemouth?

United haven't lost successive matches at Old Trafford since January 2014 and Jose Mourinho has never lost consecutive home league matches as a manager.

But the Cherries are one of four clubs that Mourinho has faced more than once at home in the league but not beaten.

United have, however, won five of their six home games against Bournemouth.

The Burnley boss has good reason to be happy after overseeing a win against Stoke last night that lifted the Clarets into fourth. That's Burnley. In the Champions League places. Unbelievable scenes.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace left it very, very late to beat Watford 2-1 while Chelsea won 3-1 at Huddersfield.

  19. 'Lamela ready to compete again'published at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2017

    Tottenham v Brighton (20:00 GMT)

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: "We believe he [Erik Lamela] is in good form. He is ready to compete again. It is good for the team to rest players and rotate. It is important during such a busy period.

"It is a little bit about everything. To provide the team with freshness and to be competitive in every single game. We believe with the players we have picked today we can beat Brighton. Every game is tough but it is important to have different facility to play and win games.

"The philosophy of the Brighton manager, who we know well, is to keep the ball and play on the grass. They are having a good season. It will be tough."

Erik Lamela makes his first start for Tottenham in over a year, having recovered from a hip problem. His inclusion is one of four changes by Spurs, who also bring in full-backs Danny Rose and Serge Aurier for Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier. Moussa Sissoko also starts.

Dele Alli is dropped to the bench, along with Davies, Trippier and Mousa Dembele.

Winger Anthony Knockaert is recalled by Brighton after being left out of the side that lost to Huddersfield as Brighton make five changes. Defender Bruno is dropped to the bench, as are striker Glenn Murray and midfielders Pascal Gross and Isaiah Brown. Markus Suttner is not in the 18.

The other players to come in are Tomer Hemed up front, Gaetan Bong in defence and midfielders Beram Kayal and Jose Izquierdo.
