  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 64 mins

    Scotland 0-1 Netherlands

Scotland midfielder John McGinn earns the first booking of the night for an aggressive tackle, though he did appear to win the ball.

"That's a shambles," declares BBC Scotland summariser Steven Thompson. "For me John got the ball in a 50-50 tackle, that is a really poor decision."

Netherlands looking to put the game to bed with a second goal. Kevin Strootman brings a brilliant block from Kieran Tierney, who is looking at ease in a centre-back role. Moments later Ryan Jack has to put in another block to keep the Dutch at bay.

I think Scotland need to take the shackles off to be perfectly honest. It's a friendly. I think we're still too hesitant, playing too deep. Any time we've gone at the Dutch, we've opened them up. I think there's definitely a goal or two there for us but I think we're playing under too many directions from the manager not to expose ourselves. Let's go. Let's allow these midfield players to go and express themselves.

Dutch keeper Jasper Cillessen makes a hash of dealing with a pass-back from Daley Blind, and Matt Phillips nicks the ball. He finds Ryan Christie, who floats over a cross that eludes two of his team-mates. Should have done better.

  6. CLOSE!published at 51 mins

    Scotland 0-1 Netherlands

Better signs from Scotland. A good passing move down the right before John McGinn picks up the ball on the edge of the area and unleashes a fierce left-foot shot that goes narrowly wide of the left-hand post.

    Scotland 0-1 Netherlands

A driving run forward from Andrew Robertson lifts the hosts. The left-back plays a one-two with Ryan Christie, but the latter's pass into the area is a little too heavy.

The second half starts in similar fashion to the first. Netherlands with most of the possession, but not doing much with it.

Shaun McCormack: Played really well and had majority of the chances, caught with a sucker punch as Netherlands despite their talented line-up have been poor.

Keith Nicol: Just shows how bad the Netherlands are now as we are horrendous.

Sean Macdonald: Decent first half, more hunger and creation from the young guys. Mistake for the goal, but double offside all the same. Sooner see this than Strachan's old favourites!!

We need to up the intensity and the tempo a little bit, and be a little bit sharper in the tackle and closing down in the middle of the park.

  11. Mulgrew on for Scotlandpublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2017

    Scotland 0-1 Netherlands

The second half gets under way and Scotland have made a change. Charlie Mulgrew is on for Christophe Berra at centre-back.

Each side can make up to six substitutions.

I just feel as if we've been slightly passive in the middle of the park. I think we could have been a wee bit more aggressive at times. Kenny MacLean has been quiet and I think Graeme Shinne would be better suited to that position. Ryan Christie has had fleeting moments but has been brushed off the ball easily at times. Matt Phillips has been wasteful but his pace has caused problems for the Dutch. I'm looking at Kieran Tierney at centre-half and I'm quite comfortable with that. Moving forward, Kieran Tierney could play that position. I would just want to see somebody that could partner him.

Matt Day: Phillips has spoiled Scotland's attacks with poor passing & hold up play. McLean & Jack look out their depth. Berra a liability.

Denis Maxwell: Offside goal but dreadfully exposed.....where did our right back go for the goal?

Alan McDonald: Are we waiting till half time to let the 16000 fans in....more noise in a cemetery....

  14. HALF-TIME - Scotland 0-1 Netherlandspublished at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2017

Scotland had a few chances in a promising opening period, while Kieran Tierney came close with a thunderous effort.

But one moment of class from the Dutch, who have otherwise been disappointing, ends with a goal on the counter-attack.

A familiar tale for Scotland perhaps. Can they find a response after the break?

Because we had been caught up the pitch attacking with numbers in forward areas, we hadn't recovered well enough in the end defensively to be in a good shape to stop the cross and it was a simple goal for the Netherlands.

    GOAL - Scotland 0-1 Netherlands (Depay)published at 41 mins

Frustration for Scotland as a break upfield ends with Matt Phillips losing the ball. The Dutch counter attack swiftly and Memphis Depay, all alone a few yards out, converts Ryan Babel's low cross.

  17. CLOSE!published at 38 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Netherlands

Chance for Netherlands at the other end, as Virgil van Dijk just faisl to get enough on a whipped corner.

  18. CLOSE!published at 36 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Netherlands

Kieran Tierney nearly marks his first game as captain with a goal. The Celtic defender picks up the ball 30 yards out and unleashes a left-foot thunderbolt that Dutch keeper Jasper Cillessen does well to get down to and beat away.

  19. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Scotland 0-0 Netherlands

Memphis Depay never really convinced in his time at Manchester United, and the Dutch winger still looks a bit of a lost soul. He runs along the edge of the Scotland area, but his shot lacks the clout to trouble Craig Gordon.

John McGinn has made a decent start in midfield for Scotland, tenacious in the tackle and probing with his passing. But the Hibs star goes into a challenge a bit too heavily for the referee's liking, and concedes a free-kick.
