    Brighton 2-2 Bournemouth

    Brighton 2-2 Bournemouth

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Chris Hughton speaking to Match of the Day: "It's hugely disappointing. We spoke about areas we need to address, opportunities to score more goals and be creative.

"What became an open game aganist a good Bournemouth side, on chances we had by far the better of the clear cut chances.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe on Sky Sports: "It's frustrating for us that we gave them goals at the start of both halves. The lads showed great fighting spirit, team spirit to come back.

"It's good to see us scoring again, but we needed to defend better to win."

    Brighton 2-2 Bournemouth

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson grabbed the equaliser from perhaps one the scrappiest goalmouth scrambles you're likely to see at this level.

He's described it as "a bit pinball in there".

  11. 'Two points dropped for Brighton'published at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2018

    Brighton 2-2 Bournemouth

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

An incredible game. If you're Chris Hughton you're wondering how you didn't get all three points but Bournemouth really stuck in there. I think it's two points dropped for Brighton - they need to start taking their chances if they want to stay in the Premier League.

I feel the way Bournemouth play they will win enough games, with Brighton the longer it goes on I would worry about them. They have to start turning draws into wins, it can be a very cruel league.

Well, that was certainly a scrap - but a thoroughly enjoyable one.

End-to-end, plenty of shots on goal, penalty box scrambles and a hatful of missed chances to boot.

    Happy New Year.

Chris: Good to see a proper football match between Brighton & Bournemouth. Both sides attacking and lots of challenges on a muddy pitch.

Dennis: Eddie Howe and Chris Hughton are my favourite managers in the league and I hope their sides escape the drop.

Right then, chance for Steve Cook to launch a long throw into the box.

It's headed out to the edge of the area, Adam Smith tries to run it wide, but it rolls out for a goal kick.

Tired tackle from the muddied Glenn Murray.

He lunges in on Charlie Daniels. It wasn't nasty, just sloppy, and earns him a booking.

    Anthony Knockaert is fuming.

It's a good run from the Brighton forward, as he regathers a pass inside the six-yard box and pokes it towards goal.

Asmir Begovic saves, it comes back of Knockaert and trickles off for a goal kick.
