  1. 'Towering header'published at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2018

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

It's a towering header from Steve Cook. Cook attacks it and there's no one at the back post to prevent it going in off the bar for Brighton. Do Bournemouth deserve it? I'm not too sure, but they're certainly back in this now.

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

Callum Wilson is fouled 10 yards outside the Brighton box by Lewis Dunk and the visitors get another chance to whip a delivery into the box.

Jordon Ibe flicks it left to Charlie Daniels, who opts to shoot instead.

It's a comfortable save for Mat Ryan - that would have taken an effort of Roberto Carlos-esque proportions to find the net from there.

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

Bournemouth are buzzing now. There's more intensity in their play.

That goal all started with Jordon Ibe's penetrating run and shot. The visitors will hope for more of that from the former Liverpool man.

BBC Radio 5 live at Amex Stadium

Bournemouth's assistant manager, Jason Tindall has come out of the dug out to join Eddie Howe on the touchline. They have been barking orders at their players and its paid dividends with the equaliser.

Brighton will be gutted because they could have gone 2-0 up 5 minutes ago.

    Steve Cook (32 mins)

It's the former Brighton man who levels up for Bournemouth!

Steve Cook rises highest in the Seagulls' area to meet Jordon Ibe's corner and flicks a high, looping header into the far corner, beyond the despairing dive of Mat Ryan and the Brighton players on the line.

    Brighton 1-0 Bournemouth

    Class from Jordon Ibe.

The tricky Bournemouth forward collects the ball deep inside the Brighton half, turns away from his marker and accelerates forward.

Ibe looks up, touches the ball out of his feet and fizzes an effort towards goal from long-range.

Mat Ryan is down quickly to palm it away from danger.

Hustle and bustle from Glenn Murray, and the forward nearly gets his reward.

He flicks on to Anthony Knockaert, makes a run down the right-hand channel and gets the ball back just inside the box.

The Brighton striker fires on goal from the angle, but it swerves away from the far post.

    Brighton 1-0 Bournemouth

It's Bournemouth asking more of the questions after that early Brighton opener.

Although they could do without distribution like that from Asmir Begovic - the goalkeeper smashes a drop kick straight into touch with an action more in keeping with a rugby union international.

Bournemouth have chalked up 55% of possession so far, but they're lacking a cutting edge.

That might have struck Anthony Knockaert's arm, you know... although he looked just outside the box.

It just hasn't happened for Jordan Ibe in a Bournemouth shirt yet. He looks hesitant and completely lacking in any belief.

    Brighton 1-0 Bournemouth

That's a little better from Bournemouth, as Jordon Ibe and Callum Wilson combine before laying it off to Charlie Daniels.

The left-back thumps an effort towards goal and screams at the referee when it comes off a blue and white shirt - did that hit an arm?

Well, that wasn't too convincing from Mat Ryan from a Bournemouth corner.

The keeper darts out to try and collect the delivery quicker than when I hear the sound of pizza arriving at the front door, but flaps and misses it completely.

Brighton manage to scramble it clear.

    Brighton 1-0 Bournemouth

Brighton will be happy to soak up this pressure, you feel.

Bournemouth, despite having plenty of the ball in the past few minutes, haven't really done anything with it.

Marc Pugh clips a ball down the line, but Callum Wilson won't reach that and it runs through for goalkeeper Mat Ryan.

Harry Arter gets himself on the ball just inside Bournemouth's half, the Cherries are enjoying a moment of possession, but Brighton are sitting deep and proving difficult to break down.

Benik Afobe collects on the left, skips beyond his marker but in doing so runs it out of play.

A few ironic cheers from the home crowd.

    Brighton 1-0 Bournemouth

Bournemouth win a corner, and with it their first real opportunity to put some pressure on the Brighton defence.

It's cleared, but Callum Wilson gambles on a hopeful looking ball whipped back into the area and can only get a toe to it.

That drifts harmlessly wide for a goalkick.

  17. 'Great precision from Knockaert'published at 12:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2018

    Brighton 1-0 Bournemouth

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

It wasn't an easy finish, he's probably six yards beyond the far post and it's a real tight angle. It takes great precision from Anthony Knockaert.

It's a great start for Brighton, Bournemouth will have to take the game to them now.

    Brighton 1-0 Bournemouth

Brighton are brimming with confidence now.

Jose Izquierdo picks up the ball on the left, skips inside on to his right foot and then unleashes an effort from 30 yards or so.

It has Asmir Begovic scrambling, but the goalkeeper watches it just wide of his far post.

Brighton go bustling forward again, with Anthony Knockaert shrugging off tackle after tackle.

Bournemouth manage to regroup and crowd out the Seagulls forward before he can reach their area.

Worrying start for the visitors, mind.
