    Brighton 2-1 Bournemouth

Steve Cook is at it again, throwing himself in front of everything.

Lewis Dunk's cross is headed out to the edge of the area, where Pascal Gross is lurking.

The Brighton playmaker takes a touch and powers a right-footed strike goalwards, only to find Cook flinging himself in front of it.

The corner falls to Shane Duffy, but again Bournemouth get bodies in the way to block the shot.

Half-chances keep falling Anthony Knockaert's way.

This time he takes the pass on a half turn inside the area and lashes a left-footed drive straight into the gut of Steve Cook, who bounces straight back up to his feet.

Looks like Nathan Ake could be about to come on for Bournemouth...

Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Brighton look a real threat, they are happy to sit in and counter. I have been really impressed with Izquierdo during this game, his pace has been very difficult for Bournemouth to live with.

    Brighton 2-1 Bournemouth

Jose Izquierdo has done well today.

Two assists to his name and now he's tracking back to deal with Jordon Ibe.

Chris Hughton will be delighted with that.

    Brighton 2-1 Bournemouth

Glenn Murray is enjoying a decent return.

The Brighton forward now has six Premier League goals this season, just one off his best-ever tally in a single PL campaign (seven goals in 2014-15).

  6. Postpublished at 53 mins

    Brighton 2-1 Bournemouth

Anthony Knockaert fancies his chances this time.

The Brighton forward opens up a little bit of space to fire left-footed towards goal from outside the box. It's dipping and swerving, but well gathered by Asmir Begovic.

  7. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Brighton 2-1 Bournemouth

Bournemouth were almost right back in it there.

Mat Ryan, who was up celebrating with his team-mates moments earlier, scrambles down to his left to scoop up the loose ball though.

It's box-to-box, where are the midfields? Brighton flood down the other end, but Jordon Ibe collects and gallops back in the opposite direction for the Cherries.

    Glenn Murray (47 mins)

Well, Glenn Murray was in no doubt about how to finish that one!

It's a move that starts with Simon Francis giving the ball away on the half-way line for Bournemouth, Pascal Gross then guides a lovely pass into the path of Jose Izquierdo and he just slides it across goal.

Murray takes a touch, and smashes home against his old club. Perfect start to the second half for the Seagulls.

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

Glenn Murray's just done the old knee to head... looked like the Brighton forward couldn't decided which limb to use.

He's kept it alive though, and Brighton win a corner.

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

Looking at this average position graphic, you'd have to say it's Bournemouth (on the right) who have been pushing Brighton back into their own half.

The Cherries have had more chances, too - 11 shots on goal and six on target, compared to Brighton's seven and three.

Adam, Croydon: This game as the dress rehearsal for next season's Championship Play Off final, or am I being harsh?

Brighton and Bournemouth fans might have something to say about that particular prediction...

  13. 'Bournemouth lacklustre'published at 13:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2018

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

I think Brighton will feel really hard done by not being in front at the break, Begovic has kept Bournemouth in this game so far and they are fortunate to be level.

Eddie Howe's side have been a little lacklustre and I expect a bit more from them in the second half.

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

    And that's the break.

A decent opener to Premier League football in 2018.

Anthony Knockaert got the early opener, but it's all square after Steve Cook's leveller.

  16. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

Now it's Bournemouth forcing Mat Ryan into action.

Marc Pugh arrives on the edge of the box as the visitors flow forward, Benik Afobe gets out of his way and the Cherries midfielder fires a low effort on goal.

Ryan is down quickly to save.

  17. CLOSE!published at 43 mins

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

Tell you what, it's end to end now!

Jose Izquierdo goes close without really knowing anything about it.

Glenn Murray does well to hold up play, shift it right to Pascal Gross inside the area and it's a well-weighted pass that Izquierdo toe-pokes goalwards only to see it come back off goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and hit him before dropping wide.

    Big chance.

Good feet from Marc Pugh, twisting and turning his way into the Brighton box and picking out Callum Wilson.

The Bournemouth forward can't quite keep his footing as he pokes a shot on goal. It trickles through to Mat Ryan.

  19. Postpublished at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2018

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

    Defenders, are ya listening!?

How about this one... Of centre backs in the Premier League, only Scott Dann (nine) has scored more goals in the competition than Steve Cook since the 2015/16 campaign (eight).

  20. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Brighton 1-1 Bournemouth

Anthony Knockaert is looking like the most likely source of Brighton creating something.

He finds a bit of space on the right to cut back on his left and delivery a deep ball, Asmir Begovic meets it Superman-style with a big right-handed punch.
