GOAL: Notts County 1-0 Oxford Citypublished at 31 mins

    Richard Duffy

Wow. Right after Jon Stead attempted an impressive high volley into the corner of the net, the hosts win a corner.

Eventually Carl Dickinson crosses into the box, Oxford City have difficulty clearing it and the ball goes in from close range off Richard Duffy.

The visitors will not be happy with that.

    Notts County 0-0 Oxford City

What a chance! Carl Dickinson whips a cross into Jon Stead, who is a couple of feet from goal but he tries to toe poke it into the net whereas a header might have been the better option.

That should have been 1-0 to Notts County but it sails wide.

    Notts County 0-0 Oxford City

We are midway through the first half at Meadow Lane and it's not exactly a showpiece. There have been chances from both sides but nothing in the way of a concrete shot on goal.

One thing I will say is that Oxford City pass the ball around better than I would have expected of a team of their level.

Can the National League South side embarrass a team 65 places higher than them in League Two?

    Notts County 0-0 Oxford City

Oxford City are gaining a bit of confidence here. They win a corner and Notts can't clear their lines. The National League South side work another cross into the box but Matt Paterson heads wide of the mark.

Carl Dickinson sends a cross into the box towards the head of Shaun Brisley but he nods just off target.

    Good stuff from the hosts.

    Notts County 0-0 Oxford City

It's a bit scrappy as things stand. Both sides trying to keep hold of possession and trying not to concede an early goal.

Oxford City will be happy with how things are going in the opening stages.

    Notts County 0-0 Oxford City

Notts County work the ball into the box from the aftermath of a short-played free-kick near the halfway line. Jon Stead tries to latch onto it but it's cleared by the visitors.

Here's a fun fact, it's the first time for 67 years Oxford City have gone further in the FA Cup than Oxford United.

Can they prolong their stay in the competition?

Oxford City midfielder Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain says reaching the third round and having the possibility of a trip to Liverpool to face England international brother Alex would be a "dream".

The 19-year-old, on loan from Portsmouth, will face League Two side Notts County on Saturday, who are 65 places above them in English football's pyramid.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's side reached the second round after beating Colchester United in the first round, the first time they have ever beaten league opposition in the FA Cup.

"We don't tend to talk too much about each other's performances in football, but there would be some interesting chat if we were drawn against each other," Christian told BBC South Today.

"There would be some friendly banter at least. More than anything, it would be a great experience and I'd love it."

Kevin Nolan has made quite an impact since becoming manager of Notts County in January.

Former Bolton, Newcastle and West Ham midfielder Nolan took charge with the Magpies 22nd in League Two. He led them to safety last season and has taken them to the heady heights of second position in the fourth tier this term.

I'm sure he fancies a little cup run, too.
